First things first, batteries are a common issue. If they've been in the lightsaber for a while or the original that came with it, try changing for some fresh ones first. If that works, remember to remove the battery pack when you plan on putting it away for a good while. That don't work then you may have other problems, but old/drained batteries are a common issue.
