  1. I don’t have Snowy Escape… what is this thing??

  2. I finally wrote and finished my second draft of my short film as part of a digital collaboration with a disability theatre. My god, I have been putting it off due to being distracted and procrastinating, but I finally done it, 2 days before the due date. I suspect I have ADHD along with my autism, as I have tendency to jump from one unfinished project to another along with not being time conscious - 1 minute for me can span into 30 minutes. Another thing I am looking to get diagnosed, at least getting support for. EDIT - OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE REWARD!

  3. Ummm is unfinished project jumping an ADHD thing? Because my basement is filled with half finished projects that I know are secretly annoying my very tidy SO…

  4. You have a point. I’m unsure, it’s something I’ve read as I researched ADHD. Can be as simple as me being a procrastinator.

  5. You just made me think “hmmm, maybe I should bring that up to someone” lol.

  6. Oh it’s such a big thing for flat earthers and it spans genres! You can pop, rock, rap, indie, and electronics flat earthers and it’s ruined my YouTube recommended list.

  7. Is that How Far I’ll Go song for real?! It seriously comes off like satire! I haven’t checked out the other one, I can’t get over the first link lol.

  8. That’s how I felt! But as far as I can tell the majority of them are totally for real and it’s fascinating. Some of them are decently talented artists - but they make this.

  9. Omg I looked her up and she has another one that’s a cover of Adele’s Hello. Thanks for giving me my new favorite rabbit hole.

  10. That class sounds super interesting. I'd love to read a book or two about the historical provenance of the bible. Just like an academic viewpoint, not a "this is the literal infallible word of God" but also not trying to debunk the whole thing. If that makes sense.

  11. I read a book I enjoyed called The Face of Water by Sarah Ruden. She is a translator and decided to try and translate the original texts in a more concise way, talking about the the arrangement of the words used and how that can change the meaning, and the different English definitions that one word in another language can encompass. It’s not really “historical,” it’s more about language, which I am fascinated with. Historical language?! Anyway it was basically interpreting the Bible as poetry.

  12. It’s a codependent nature in some people that causes this. Some people feel like a black sheep and see others with their apparent sense of belonging and family, and yearn for that in their own life. I’m speaking from personal experience on this one. I bounced from church to church in charismatic and non-charismatic circles, flirted with a couple of borderline cults, until I finally realized I was never going to find that belonging with Christianity. I’ve since sniffed at the UU and a more monotheistic sect of Hinduism. Unfortunately, Covid-19 has made me extremely timid of group situations despite having three Pfizer shots, so I’ve had to put that on hold.

  13. I did this as a teenager growing up with undiagnosed autism. I had quite a few phases, trying on different masks trying to find somewhere I fit in. The alternative/goth/emo/punk scenes were appealing because their whole shtick was not fitting in. I look back and cringe a little at myself, but ultimately I just feel a little sad I was trying so so hard to fit in and make friends and it still didn’t work and I couldn’t figure out why.

  14. I feel the same way. I didn’t have nearly as many as it sounds like you had, but I had about three totes (the size you might put holiday decorations in) full, and a castle. I never wanted to get rid of them, but felt like I had to to fit in (joke’s on me that I would never fit in because I’m autistic, but I was undiagnosed at the time). I constantly regret it and miss them. I did keep a few of my favorites, and I’m glad for that. Recently my boyfriend and I have picked up going to antique shops, and we’ve found a few Barbies from the 90s to early 2000s-ish and I’ve picked up a couple.

  15. Okay, I know this comment is 3 months old lolol. But I was just searching through this sub trying to figure out what some things mean and I found this post. Are you me?! I also loved Barbie growing up! I had definitely 1, maybe 2 totes filled with dolls and clothes. I let my parents get rid of them when I was “too old” and wanted to fit in… but I was also undiagnosed autistic! How did you play? For me, I looooved making tiny Barbie things, mainly notebooks and lists for them because I love lists (how did I go undiagnosed for so long is beyond me, who wtf makes to do lists for their dolls/stuffed animals?). I think for me it was mainly about dressing them up and posing them and “setting a scene,” but I did play out some scenarios. My barbies were mostly hard-working single mothers lol. Sorry I’m probably being a weirdo (it’s just the autism, I swear) but I was excited to read someone who had like the same experience! I bought myself a doll and I love dressing her up and posing her, I don’t care if I’m an adult lol. It’s become part of my morning routine to dress her in an appropriate outfit for the day before I go to work.

  16. I think that I played relatively “normally”. When I played with friends it was definitely parallel play rather than our dolls interacting with each other though.

  17. Lol I also just like to sit and hold things in my lap. It feels nice!

  18. I love the closet gussy up mod, it really can help make townies look less thrown together

  19. I swear a good 75% of my gameplay is stopping to fix whatever ugly townie happens to walk by. Everyone looks so much nicer! I don’t give them plastic surgery, though, I just fix their clothes/hair/makeup.

  20. Where can you find Tessa? She is my sim’s best friend and I can’t find her house anywhere. Does she have one?

  21. -8.5 here. Let me just go drive around without my contacts. /s This woman is a loon.

  22. Hey, me too! And I can tell I need to go back to the doctor, so it’s probably worse now. People always think I’m exaggerating how bad my eyes are.

  23. When I saw the pictures of them at the coffee shop and people were freaking out I was like, well, maybe Nurie is a fast healer and she should only do what she feels comfortable doing, going to the coffee shop doesn't seem like a bad thing. Taking walks, sure, no problem. Puttering around the house, sure, go for it.

  24. I don’t think Nurie has any social media. This was probably all for Jill.

  25. That's understandable, though many of the traits you dislike about dogs are either breed-specific or the result of bad owners. I used to have a dog who rarely barked, never drooled, and slept 16+ hours a day. When she was awake, she'd play for 5 minutes then want to cuddle the rest of the time. She was also quite small, so cuddling her was mildly uncomfortable at worst. It all depends on the individual dog and the owner.

  26. What breed was this? I’ve always wanted a lap dog lol.

  27. She was wearing a mask. And as I’m sure we know by now, people look DIFFERENT with half their faces covered.

  28. I have this thing called Prosopagnosia that makes it really hard to recognize faces, so this would have totally worked on me. Masks have been hell.

  29. Don’t they have Tim Horton’s in the states? I swear they had them in NYC.

  30. I live in PA and have never seen one. NYC is a different story, but I haven’t been there in a few years (ya know, global pandemic). NYC tends to have a LOT more cultural places than most other cities.

  31. I'm literally allergic to a bunch of fruit - it's horrible.

  32. I’ve never met another person allergic to apples before! Same with me, I can eat them baked into something but not raw. It also sometimes happens with oranges, but sometimes not. It’s gotten better as I’ve been eating just like small nibbles of an apple slice at a time.

  33. Did they have to make this mouse head so horrifying?

  34. They’re just preparing us for the Jester.

  35. I am truly afraid of that thing. My new sleep paralysis hallucination.

  36. I love the bird cages! I like how Sims gain creativity and charisma skills from them. Even little kids get these skills and they come in handy during college years. 😎

  37. How do they get creativity? I didn’t know this!

  38. the influx of ts4 conversions every time there's a new pack is wonderful. I'd have to be paid to play sims 4 but they make some truly beautiful build and buy items for that game

  39. Where do you find these influxes? I would love to find them but have no idea where to look. Is there a specific website you like?

  40. tumblr mostly. I'm personally just on there as my first choice for social media, but there is a robust sims (and sims 2 in particular) community on there. the main issue and barrier to entry is that tumblr's tagging/search system is dumb and nigh impossible to use. but if you're willing to suffer through that and look there's tons of great stuff. i can give you urls if you'd like

  41. I just went and downloaded so many conversions! Thank you!

  42. Lori Alexander, aka the Transformed Wife.

  43. I actually forgot about it and this comment brought the memory back!

  44. I don’t have an answer for you, but I am also interested if anyone knows of something like this.

  45. I don’t have any advice, but I just wanted to say I know where you’re coming from, and I’m sorry it sucks. Sending you an internet hug.

  46. I'd never heard of "brother Jed or sister Cindy" and I had to google them. TIL they are internet famous. I also googled FSU and all I came up with is Florida State University. Where google has let me down: why are these two people connected with FSU and what is odd about not knowing about FSU or seeing it mentioned here.

  47. FSU is for Fundie Snark Uncensored. So, OP’s dad doesn’t know about this subreddit. No Florida State University.

  48. I’m autistic and work in a school. I’m mostly a teaching assistant (training to be an educational psychologist) but I also lead the after school care provision - I’m in charge of what we do in sessions, making sure the children are safe, managing other assistants, first aid, budgeting etc. I have a few ground rules, mostly for the safety and well-being of children and staff, but other than that I’m fairly relaxed and hands-off. Autistic people can be very trusting which certainly applies to me - I trust that my assistants can do their jobs and I don’t feel the need to micro-manage them, and on the whole I trust the children to stick to the ground rules and not do anything too ridiculous.

  49. Do you find that the ND kids take to you more? I am an early childhood educator and I have found that the ND kids in my classes seem to gravitate to me. I don’t know if it’s because I understand them more than the NT teachers or what. I love being their “person.”

  50. Oh absolutely! I think they can tell that I’m not going to judge them or try to change them, and I’m more likely than most other teachers to offer things like fidget toys, movement breaks, quiet spaces etc. which they appreciate. They don’t know I’m autistic, though one of my ADHD students once asked me if I had ADHD too (apparently I ‘think really cool’) and I admitted that I was. He was quite surprised that I’d told him but I think it helped him to see that people with ADHD can be successful and that it’s not a bad thing to be different.

  51. My kiddos are too little to ask me questions like that, and most of them are just getting diagnosed around this age, but it’s like they can just tell. My kids are 3-5. I feel so lucky to be a safe person for them and “translate” for them. I have a child this year who is pretty obviously severely autistic, and he is basically my baby. He is almost 5 and doesn’t really talk and isn’t potty-trained, and isn’t going to be any time soon. Among other challenges. Both of his parents need their own support as well. I am really hoping I can convince them to get him the help he needs. He is so sweet. He loves to pretend to be a kitty and lay in my lap. I have started signing with him and he is picking it up so well, I’m so proud. This got me rambling but I just really love my job, despite how stressful it can be!

  52. How many yinzers are in this group?? I thought I was alone!

  53. When I said I found my people here, I didn’t think it would get even closer to home!

  54. I once had Don Lothario start an OnlyFans with his roommate and they had one kid but they're relationship was super open so eventually I would just add random townies to the mix. My only regret is that my save was corrupted and I no longer could play it.

  55. How can you tell? The glowing eyes? I never played with them and never saw the glowing eyes until I got the ultimate collection.

  56. Yup, I may be wrong but think they all look like this - black fur, big build, glowing eyes. I don’t tend to interact with them but if you do and befriend them, they can bite you and turn you into a werewolf :)

  57. Ohhhh, I thought werewolves looked like Sims but furrier! Cool!
