I’m just gonna throw this out there and say Hot Mulligan is not pop punk it’s post hardcore. They get lumped together with pop punk but most of their music is post hardcore.
They aren't pop punk but I also wouldn't consider them post hardcore either. I'd said they are closer to emo. (Actual emo.) I haven't listened to them in actual years so I could he quite wrong, but with Thier earlier stuff, I got massive emo vibes for sure.
Houma and baton rouge had a way better pop punk scene for sure. I guess it wasn't too much of a "scene," but it was bigger than new Orleans for sure. We had maybe two bands I can think of from nola, and one of those bands changed their style to metalcore lol.
I, for one, welcome any crossover of this variant as long as it stays the hell out of the whiny misogynistic shit that most pop punk bands seem to have these days.

Local bands used to put on a "fest" at a local Taco Bell. It was called Taco Fest. I've also been to shows at a Smoothie King.
