Thatās been happening for awhile. My BIL is one of the ārolling coalā truck types and heās vocal about making his truck as obnoxious as possible āto protest for my freedumsā. Every year it gets bigger and more obnoxious, pumping out black smoke, so loud you can hear him coming down the road. Heāll purposely pull in front of EVs on the road and belch out as much smoke as possible and think itās hilarious.
Bro. Sell the ones youāre not going to fix up, and donāt kid yourself into thinking youāre going to fix them all up. Iāve seen this too many times, it ends up with a flatbed pulling cars out of the field and then ripping in half from rust when you pass away someday and the family is clearing away all the junk.
My wife's uncle is doing the same thing with the family farm, cars just sitting there getting punished by Iowa winters until they once again become one with the soil.
It is not because people are addicted to cars it is because in many places of the united states it is literally not possible or safe to bicycle or walk to places. The united states is heavily car centric.. putting the blame on those living paycheck to paycheck will not solve the problem.
