  1. Very true. But most every state envies California. There’s always something we have better. All the California hate is just people lying to themselves about how they actually wished they lived here.

  2. Here’s how it works everywhere. If you are in the Seattle area, you can say the specific city you are in, like Kirkland or Issaquah. If you are outside of that, you say Seattle because no one knows the smaller cities that make up the Seattle metropolitan area. So it’s fine to say Seattle.

  3. This time it’s not black, “violent rioters from the hood” doing the protesting, it’s white, nonviolent affluent college students and professors. Let’s see what new excuses America comes up with to defend this cops and not admit our police have a problem.

  4. isn't the narrative that this doesn't happen to white affluent ppl.

  5. The right and middle don’t deserve empathy because they don’t give it to others. The left has empathy, they just don’t give it to those that only think about themselves and won’t give it to others.

  6. I enjoy how you rephrased their argument from “DEI is ruining planes” to “are you saying dark skinned people are the issue?” Clearly it hit and they know they can’t outright say that but then they tried to deflect and say “my news channel made me think this racist thought.”

  7. Seattle is still overrated for outdoors, IMO. We actually moved from Seattle to SLC (which I believe is a legitimately underrated city) because Seattle is difficult if you’re an outdoors enthusiast — the closest big mountains and amazing hiking areas are over an hour away and that is to really the most basic trails that are insanely overcrowded.

  8. I get your point and maybe the specific things you want are better in SLC, BUT for most people those are all good qualities about a major city. Hiking in top tier mountains an hour or two away? A day trip to go skiing? Most people have to fly or do a weekend trip for that. Then you have the water for water activities and amazing summers.

  9. As far as I can tell from this article

  10. Crazy speculation, but considering that it’s been under construction forever , what are the chances this is a failed construction project turned into an insurance collection

  11. Honestly renovations take forever in this city. I know someone that had a renovation take 6 years. Some of the reason is the city. Some of it is neighbors. Some of it is that contractors aren’t organized and take forever.

  12. That's great news, drivers in the city have gotten used to lax enforcement and we are all less safe as a result. I've never seen so many people running red lights, driving the wrong way down a one way, speeding on residential roads etc in a developed country as in SF.

  13. If people are going to do what they want with no consideration to others, then it’s time to put our foot down and show them there’s consequences.

  14. I was just about to ask about AVTAK. All other placements I can either agree with or at least understand. AVTAK is In some very good company on your list. I'm glad you enjoy it. I can say it has a great score and theme song

  15. I think AVTAK has softened over the years with fans. I think people focus on the good parts and look past the bad.

  16. I had to leave the late stage capitalism subreddit cos of that attitude. Like, yeah, Biden is old and not many peoples’ dream presidential candidate, but he’s empowering his administration to do good stuff and better than bad stuff many republicans (especially Trump’s side of the party) would do. Progress doesn’t typically come in huge sweeping changes - it’s by building it piece by piece and I’ll always vote for a candidate that’s headed in the best direction and has a realistic chance to win. Voting to stick it to the system is how shit like Trump and Brexit happen.

  17. A lot of those people are Russian and Chinese users paid to divide liberal voters. I remember this happening in 2020 when people were trying to argue to not vote for Biden to stick it to Democrats for looking past progressives or some shit. They always went silent or changed subjects when you brought up how much worse Trump would be.

  18. I see. Articles from reputable sources with journalistic integrity are bad for getting your information. But anonymous Reddit and twitter comments are good. Makes sense…

  19. I’d be looking at GV70 if I needed to buy a sporty SUV. They get good reviews and I really like the look. They seem like a good mix or luxury, performance, reliability, and price. Also not many are on the road so it’s nice to have something different.

  20. No, appearance aside, when he was asked about gun control, you can tell his views come from twitter and people like Ben Shapiro and Matt Walsh. He’s not smart.

  21. Supercharged 5.0, Tremec T5, custom drive shaft, 7.5” rear end. 428hp at the crank. 389hp at the rear wheels. No radio or AC. Because I want to hurt. This is my daily driver. Well, my motorcycle is what I use most often, but this is the only car I own.

  22. Ghost Recon Jungle Strike for the PS2. The game wasn’t that good. But I had tons of great memories playing it online one summer. Same with Medal Of Honor Rising Front.

  23. Sounds like a police officer or two should patrol with the parking cops.

  24. This is somewhat tangential, but I have gotten in the habit of asking myself "What would James Bond Do?" WWJBD

  25. This is probably the most applicable one. Simply carrying yourself like he does will probably help you out. Walk and stand confidently. Dress well. Be in decent shape. Try to live a classier lifestyle, which you don’t have to do for a lot of money. Have some knowledge about various things people might be interested in. Keep your cool even when you are angry and don’t show people they got the best of you.

  26. Jesus police in the USA are ego trip little babies. Full riot gear for a peaceful protest AGAINST VIOLENCE!!! Fucking insane how low police are in USA

  27. That was really clear during the 2020 BLM protests. Police gave such a hissy fit when the country was basically like “stop killing people.”

  28. They’re gonna each hop in a diesel truck and coal roll just because of your comment.

  29. The Coddling of the American Mind was completely done in bad faith. There’s a podcast called If Books Could Kill that reviewed it (I also hate read it) and so many of their examples are misrepresented so they can get their narrative across. Often their data “sources” are just from their own FIRE org.

  30. “Come on guys! It’s our chance to stick it to those damn woke, liberal students!” - cops, probably

  31. It’s probably time we reevaluate overtime pay for salaried positions. Layoffs would happen less if working 50-60 hours a week at a salaried position cost companies more money.
