  1. Going with three less obvious ones (than the ones I usually speak about here):

  2. Ahhhh! I love all these movies. Meh, love, hate?

  3. Hate Terms, love Kramer vs Kramer, meh on titanic🥲

  4. Why is the guy from the Bee movie getting so much air time recently??

  5. It won’t be Stone at no.1 but I’m more worried that a certain subset of people will mass vote out Yeoh far before she deserves to be voted out (which is top 5 in my book but that’s a whole other story).

  6. Starring Andrew Scott as Leonardo Da Vinci (hopefully)

  7. She’s most likely to make it of the potential candidates but it’ll be hilarious if Gaga misses the nom again lol

  8. Lady Gaga has the most buzz but early buzz doesn’t necessarily translate into wins imo.

  9. I mean, tbh most of this past year's frontrunners were the frontrunners for the majority of the year.

  10. A large number of people were convinced that Bradley Cooper would win over Cillian Murphy because the former was “overdue” and had the more baity role. Lily Gladstone was always viewed as a contender to win something. Gosling had about as much hype as RDJ early on. Brooks was the early frontrunner for The Color Purple as was Fantasia, Randolph didn’t become a thing till she started sweeping critics awards. Neither Anatomy nor American Fiction were viewed as even contenders at this time of the year, let alone potential winners in screenplay. The only frontrunner who maintained momentum throughout the year was Christopher Nolan, a man who has been a well respected director in the industry for a much longer time than Gaga has been an actress. So let’s not engage in revisionism over early frontrunners lol.

  11. The initial hype was organic and a coincidental Internet phenomenon, then the studios very smartly capitalised on it and integrated it into their promo strategies

  12. EEAAO for both but Banshees was practically tied for screenplay for me with EEAAO——I’d be happy with either winning. Farrell should have won actor too.

  13. Is it safe to say now that I never liked her? She always had this obnoxious/fake personality.

  14. Emma Stone took up the space JLaw occupied in popular culture and the former is more talented and versatile anyway.

  15. But I think it does help for women. Zendaya who was rated high in this sub would probably get lower ratings if she was short.

  16. Yeah that’s what I mean, for women, body proportions matter more than they matter for men. Petite women like Natalie and taller women like Zendaya are all considered attractive. Their body types are proportionate with their heights. Even a broader boned, taller woman like Kate Winslet is very attractive both facially and how she carries herself.

  17. Ahhh I’m about to get totalllly downvoted for this but—- i just went through Aishwariya filmography but sorrrry none of her “big” movies were solo projects where she was the main character… guts for turning down such big movies when her filmography is just ehh

  18. She’s undeniably beautiful but her beauty has helped her coast through Bollywood so much lmao. She’s a very mediocre actress yet she’s speaking as though she’s Tabu or Nutan.

  19. I always thought she was stunning, even though many disagree here. Her bone structure is impeccable. Probably an 8.5?

  20. I’m still salty Ryan didn’t win the Oscar, he ate with that Kenergy😭😭

  21. I love that Gosling is so fully committed to this

  22. It's yet another love triangle movie (this time in the vein of Broadcast News). That discourse isn't gonna be ending anytime soon.

  23. It also stars Dakota Johnson who’s a major step down from Greta Lee in my book

  24. This makes me actually hate Mufasa's parents. Scar might be a bad guy, but no wonder he ended up the way he did.

  25. I was gonna say! But I’m so OOTL that I didn’t know she had children with Keith Urban. I thought she only had (adopted) children with Tom Cruise.

  26. Cruise brainwashed their children and they ultimately chose Scientology over their mom. Since Nicole is a suppressive person as per Scientology, they have limited to no contact with her. I believe this because Cruise also abandoned Suri for leaving the cult.

  27. Not to rehash the same tired 2022 debates but (for my money) Todd Field's Tàr deserved it over the Daniels' EEAAO.

  28. You guys need to read the prompts in these questions.

  29. People here don’t seem to understand that there is way more to winning an award than the binary of narrative/performance. There’s conversations to be had about the kinds of performances the academy favours, industry recognition and respectability, how popular your film is with the academy, how significant that performance is in your career and how many times you have/haven’t won before.

  30. Lol you can’t be wishy-washy about this. It’s either narrative matters or it doesn’t. Why didn’t narrative help Viola Davis in 2012 and 2021 then? Why didn’t Chadwick Boseman win in 2021? If being Asian mattered so much, why is Yeoh the only (openly) Asian woman to win this category? Are you really telling me best actress, a notoriously white category, has people throwing “pity votes” to WOC?

  31. I have spoken at length about why I prefer Yeoh’s performance and performance alone on this sub multiple times. Not that I expect a TÁR stan to actually read my entire comment because yall read the word Asian in my comment and start on your rants about “diversity narratives” and how I want her to win because she’s only Asian. Then say something mildly racist and call EEAAO stans the toxic ones for defending the actors against said racism. I didn’t “push” any narrative and neither did Yeoh or anyone from the EEAAO cast and crew.

  32. Firstly I’m not the one who brought up the “racism card” as you so eloquently put it, the other user said that posts like this leave Zendaya open to needless criticism that is so very rarely levied against her white counterparts. And they are right about that. It would have been ok if this was the first Zendaya post here, but there have been multiple posts downplaying her hype this week. Regardless of your personal feelings for her (and you’ve made those quite clear) why is it so inconceivable for Zendaya to even be a contender for the nom? Not even the win, just the nom? Meanwhile people here seem convinced that Gaga will be a top 3 player even when we have barely seen her in the trailers and there’s been literally no review out of Joker 2?
