Giants can spawn literally on like every moon, though chances are smaller if it's not a forest moon. This is also the cause with Old Birds, as they can spawn almost everywhere too.
I was playing yesterday and somehow I flew right into my own 500kg that I threw into charger. I survived this as the evac was ready. It was a blockbuster moment.
Also one time my friend died to jumping in abyss and I ran to the corridor crossroad to tell my another friend that first one died. No one answered so I've came further into the corridor. There was a creeping silence with rare noises of like something walking or screeching. I stabbed there for a minute and then just ran away because of the atmosphere.

My friend had the same situation while I was spectating him. He then started to cry for help but no one was near so he died to trying to kill bracken with a mine. Then he explained that he thought it would be funny if he just looked down and saw a mine. That was hilarious.
