Its pretty obvious that UBC is becoming more competitive for several reasons (e.g. international students, grade inflation, the McGill issue). My prediction is UBC science and arts will be 1-2% higher GPA than last year. That's just my educated guess, but there are clear demand issues relating to UBC. If your not in yet, don't give up hope, but have a plan b. Its time to prepare for the worst.

I would decide based on the program you want to do, everything else (money, student life, niceness of campus, etc.) comes after that. Do you want to do mechanical engineering, or engineering science? A Mechanical Engineering career should pay enough to get you out of any student loans/debt you would have to take on going to UVic over SFU
