The birds don’t care if it’s old and faded. As long as there’s food they will find it, it’s the little flowers that are the real important part in helping them find if but even without flowers they will come.
You might try putting some red stickers on it, or something like that to draw their attention. I would just avoid anything that can off gas or potentially put out fumes or anything that might contaminate the water.
I will not be using the paint, but I do have a lot of large red glass beads that I’m going to string up and loop them onto the base where they will lay just above the yellow flowers the hummers drink from.
I love you color choices, and if this were mine I was making, I would definitely use black backed copper foil and black patina the heck out of it!!! Really make those colors stand out ❤️
