As someone who once thought the way you do about college/ attaining success, you quickly learn that where you go to school (and even what you major in) matters far, far less than you might think.

I could definitely end up making less real income as I age. If I get promoted at my current firm, however, I’ll probably be pulling in considerably more income later in life. So that is a consideration of mine.
some biglaw firms have government relations practices (akin Gump, Squire Patton Boggs). My understanding is a JD isn’t required for these positions, but joining a DC office with those practice areas can be a way to get your foot in the door of an otherwise more connections-based industry.

Oh Pine St. is actually great. I lived there for a while on Pine & Mason and there are lots of amazing restaurants and bars down a block on Bush.
