Alec Lansing died while attending Trails Carolina in 2014. I remember this well bc he was missing for a while and the temp was in the mid teens. He died after falling, breaking his hip and eventually succumbing to Hypothermia. I’m simply pointing out that the current tragedy is not the first for Trails.
As someone who works in outdoor ed, there must have been multiple gaps in their risk management for this kid to fall from a height tall enough to break his hip and then go unnoticed long enough to die of hypothermia. Serious negligence

Some things I would consider alongside cost and are important to many other folks around here: is the development walkable to local services & businesses? Is it connected to public transit? Are there parks built into it (or are nearby)? Does it have bike-friendly infrastructure?
