Trash that current substrate go with a new mix like recommended by others. I do organic top soil, repti soil, play sand. 40%,40%,20%. Then a layer of sphagnum moss and an optional layer of leaf clutter. Be sure to bake the top soil to kill gnat larvae. Gnats are harmless to you and your snake but a pain in the ass to get rid off. I struggled with humidity for 3 years until I tried a homemade substrate mix.
This and more clutter will do you well in the long run. I stuggled back and forth with humidity for a while until I finally found a good balance with top soil, play sand, repti soil, & a small amount of repti bark for surface texture.
I unfortunately feed live as mine only seems to want white live mice. It's bs but it is what it is. She is the most docile relaxed snake ever. Never ever aggressive in any way. So I haven't seen live cause aggression. Live or dead they still try to kill it before eating anyway.
This is also my 3 year old girl. White live male mice for some reason, anything different and she will hunger strike for weeks. She's very sweet too, never strikes at me. Always knows the difference between feeding time and hangout time. I watch her while she eats which she's always quick to do, and so far so good. We have a 24hr emergency exotic vet that we have a rapport with if anything ever happens. They love her just as much as I do.
These have existed for 10+ years with U.S. adult novelty shops selling them and you can find them for sale within the states online. They are one time use and each version has a different texture inside.
