  1. Capturing the Friedmans, I guess? Not sure why this was the first to come to mind, but it was.

  2. Not many five year olds know the word amortizing.

  3. So someone gives you a house, but they tell you that once a month, you have to set a bunch of dollar bills on fire. And on top of that, the only thing you have to start the fire is other dollar bills. When you stay in the same house long enough, you can use some of the flaming wads of money from before to keep setting new piles of cash on fire, but if you jump to a new house too often, you have to start the fire all over again and light even more money on fire. The end.

  4. Sure, I’m just giving an example of how you would have to explain amortization to a five year old.

  5. Yes. Michelle Pfeiffer is even in the music video playing her character from “Dangerous Minds”

  6. I was reminded of this in hilarious fashion recently when I saw people reacting to Weird Al's "Amish Paradise" music video, which comes complete with Michelle Pfeiffer look-a-like pulling up a chair inside a barn.

  7. lol, a look-a-like. That’s the Brady Bunch’s Florence Henderson.

  8. My god, you’ve just blown my mind. Weirdest TV mom cameo since Barbara Billingsley in Airplane!

  9. Chuck Webb is a seven-term Congressman who, as chairman of not one but two Commerce sub-committees, has taken money from companies he regulates. He's on the board of the NRA and once challenged another Congressman to a fistfight on the floor over an amendment to make stalkers submit to background checks before buying AR-15s, AK-57s, Street Sweepers, Mac-10s, Mac-11s. He's joined protests designed to frighten pregnant women.

  10. High-risk, high-reward option: [[Evra, Halcyon Witness]]

  11. There are too many Un puns to keep up with demand. I had been waiting so long for Wizards to make "UnPhased" over the years that Phasing actually came back to black-bordered Magic in the meantime and ruined the joke.

  12. Yeah, but only in my [[Evra, Halcyon Witness]] deck which is almost entirely spells, auras, and equipment that give Evra protection. Most of those that I include have very low cmc, but only protect against a small subset of threats. Spectra Ward is the opposite, but honestly it would be a cut if more cheap protection existed.

  13. Yeah, but it's technically down in Renton, which... would not surprise me if the water was tainted, actually, yes.

  14. There are no Walmarts in Seattle. The closest one is in Renton and that city is known for high amounts of retail theft. Walmart is trash anyway.

  15. To be fair, the downtown target is just like this and also has dudes dressed up like soldiers patrolling around

  16. You aren't wrong, but the fact that the Downtown location is still open while the Ballard location closed is why I call BS on Target citing "crime and safety" as the deciding factor closing. Ballard of all places!

  17. Came here to say the same. I suspect OP was just going for the closest city that redditors would have heard of, like those episodes of COPS that supposedly took place in "Seattle," but were actually shot in Lakewood, south of Tacoma.

  18. assuming you're eventually going to watch all of them, the first one?

  19. With unlimited time? Sure, but if I can get a good first few videos to take a look at, it'd give me a good idea of whether or not I should keep the membership going month to month.

  20. Unsure if meant to be just the main Yogs channel or affiliates but my boiks Hat Films make quality content that’s just incredible and I highly recommend.

  21. Main channel, though I love Hat Films, too. Just figured I'd get a better start with the main channel first and then join HF later if I ever run out of vids to watch.

  22. Accidentally did this with an upgraded velociramptor precon. I thought I got to pick when it stopped haha

  23. Happened to me too when I put [[Aether Flash]] in the deck because of all the Enrage. Didn't realize what was about to happen until I cast the Polyraptor. I took it back when I explained what I had just realized to everyone. Eventually lost the game, but at least in my head, I could pretend I drew instead of losing!

  24. The way assigning combat damage to multiple blockers works. As in, you order blockers, then assign at least lethal damage to each blocker, and the way that interacts with things like deathtouch, trample, and damage boosting effects like [[Furnace of Rath]] or [[Torbran, Thane of Red Fell]]

  25. Yeah, especially since the vast majority of the time, damage is shortcutted and assigned pretty intuitively. There are also rare corner cases where you don’t WANT to kill a blocker and would rather spread damage out without dealing lethal, but are forced to anyway.

  26. I mean, if advancing the game is the main criterion, then [[Heartless Hidetsugu]] is the bar to clear.

  27. The year is 2035 and I’m eating uncrustables for dinner

  28. I mean, it's 2024 and I'm eating them for dessert frozen. They're great and keep me from eating something (even more) unhealthy.

  29. Rolf Kaines plays Hans Krebs in Downfall and the comedy relief character Priest in Lexx. It was jarring seeing him right in the middle of the action when all the Downfall memes started rolling in.

  30. Yeah. Imagine being the guy whose best known roles (outside of Germany, at least) are the long-suffering underling of Hitler and the long-suffering underling of Prince.

  31. Same. Used to have both a Newsweek and TIME magazine subscription. It was like receiving the Reddit homepage in the mail once a week!

  32. And no user comment threads to have to trudge through in utter disbelief 😂

  33. And in the same vein, it should be 'ravnitsa', not 'ravnika'...

  34. Unrelated, but "ravnitsa" also makes me think that Ravka from the Shadow and Bone book series/TV show is also meant to be an analogue to the Czech Republic. AND I am only now realizing how similar Ravka is to Ravnica!

  35. Dark Ritual from Star Wars: Destiny, a game I only knew existed because of its own version of Dark Ritual.

  36. The lightbulb never gets screwed in, but you do have several dead people telling you how they WOULD have screwed it in if you hadn’t stopped them.

  37. Tropic Thunder. I think everyone in the theater slowly came to the realization at the same time that, out of nowhere, Tom Cruise is just in the movie, playing the least Tom Cruise role of all time. As far as I’m aware, it was never spoiled that he’d be in it.

  38. Keep in mind Tom Cruise was at the low point of his public image, so this was a “soft” way for him to return to the spotlight.

  39. I mean, half the main cast were "stars" but were there essentially as a joke at the time of release. Iron Man had only just that year revived RDJ's career. Matthew McConaughey was still pre-Interstellar. Nick Nolte was there as a parody of the roles Nick Nolte would always get.

  40. First that comes to mind is Jim Carrey’s first hosting appearance. It’s 1996 and he’s becoming the biggest comedy star on the planet, but when he gets to SNL he still absolutely COMMITS to it. The characters they have him playing are top-notch. The writers knew who they were getting and Carrey really looked like he was into every sketch.

  41. Every Christopher Walken episode from the 2000s is a winner. Along with Blue Oyster Cult there’s an unhinged Census Taker skit with Tim Meadows. Oh and the series of sketches called The Continental. Colonel Angus. So good.

  42. I get that it's a typo ("there"/"they"), but I like imagining that this shower thought was a continuation of a previous thought in which "they" could mean anyone. Who? Your family? The cashiers at the grocery store? The Obamas?

  43. So I tapped my onion by rotating it 180 degrees, which was the style at the time...

  44. Newspaper Headline: Old Man Yells at Absence of Mana Burn

  45. As with many rules changes over the decades, it ends up having far less impact on the game than you'd think in 99% of all situations. And you can even bring it back into the game with [[Yurlok of Scorch Thrash]] if you really want to!

  46. Commander damage is a bit more manageable when you only have to get to 21 on one player. Whenever I do need to play 1v1, I have an [[Akiri, Line-Sligner]] / [[Bruse Tarl, Boorish Herder]] deck that either quickly gets to 21 or just runs out of gas. Against one opponent it can work, but isn't particularly viable in multiplayer.
