She will have regrets, because there will always be "what if" moments - regrets come with the territory of life changing decisions - which is why I'm telling her not to feel guilty or bad about any decision she takes, because having those what-if moments are normal.
As a pro-choice woman who had a baby at 17, I have never once regretted my decision. That said, if I had not had the stability, resources, access to education and supportive community that I did when I got pregnant, I would have chosen to have an abortion and under those circumstances I don't think I'd regret it. Projecting future regret on women who are making these decisions is one of the problems with the societal discourse surrounding choice and bodily autonomy.

I think it's such a red flag when people refer to their children or parents as best friends. I actually say the same thing about how I am my child's parent, not his friend. Anyone who says their child is their best friend reads to me as either manipulative or a pushover parent.
