  1. They are so mechanically dense with relevant stuff too.

  2. I'm trying to run a serious campaign here and all I get is Monty Python jokes...

  3. Final Fantasy XIII. 20 hour tutorial. It gets good when you hit Gran Pulse, but you're literally running down a corridor and spamming the x button until then

  4. It was absolutely famous for this when it was a hot topic

  5. That was Vista and 8 was when they toned it back and allowed a slightly more normal Start menu and PC centric design again.

  6. I remember seeing Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within in theatres and being intensely disappointed. I have not seen it since, but I think about it sometimes. I think some tv commercials caught my attention as a kid.

  7. If my 2010s viewing had anything to say, the visuals held up remarkably well, but poor storytelling definitely had me feeling bored and I honestly can't even remember the plot or story beats.

  8. damn i didn’t even think about the not knowing who part haha

  9. It's a hack to get useful current info. The number goes up and you know some woman now likes you. Probably the one you just interacted with. If the number you didn't know about doesn't go back down immediately, you know it wasn't that one and can run through your list until you figure out who.

  10. I pray Szechuan Express is open forever 😔 My mom used to take me after the doctors appointments when Children’s was in Oakland. I went on my first “date” with the father of my kids there, and I just got it for my 2yr old for the first time last week lol. I’ll die without that brown sauce!!!

  11. My mom used to work at Children's. She still does but she used to too. Not having Szechuan Express, The O, and Dave & Andy's in her work neighborhood was such a loss for her.

  12. I fell asleep to Futurama for a while. I later learned that there is a community of "futurama sleepers". I think there's even a subreddit about it.

  13. And Futurama absolutely counts for this topic thanks to the season of movies in the middle.

  14. I recommend playing Super Mario Bros for the NES. That nostalgia hook for her, knowing all the warp pipes, maybe a few speed run lines to really style on her memories. Blow her mind by glitching through a block barrier or two, getting through the endless hallway the first time through, a crazy wrong warp, stuff like that.

  15. I'm always happy to pitch Quarantine again. Hover-taxi, Escape from NY scenario, car combat, crazy drugged up passengers, Doom Clone era, banger 90s Australian alt garage grunge

  16. Bruh, what fans are dead? Case fan? Cpu cooler? Or gpu?

  17. Seriously a couple case fans or basic CPU cooler are cheaper than most games we could recommend. Fix your stuff before it breaks itself permanently from overheating.

  18. Kerbal Space Program, a whole game about literal rocket science and orbital mechanics made by a Mexico City marketing company that had never made a computer program beyond art installations. The chief dude behind their programming and modelling was going to quit to make the game, and they just decided to make the game with him. Note, I am absolutely misremembering this whole thing and barely skimmed the article again for a refresher.

  19. The game director said he got the name kerbals because that's what he called little figurines he attached to fireworks as a kid

  20. Try to still be cool to the folks around him, if you can manage it. The aunt and half sisters haven't done much of anything wrong as far as we can tell. It's nice to have family ties, even if they're tenuous and have some baggage. Meanwhile even if he wanted to turn folks against you, it's too super obvious who the jerk here is.

  21. I'll suggest maybe doing this to virtual people.

  22. Besides killer originals like Katamari and Final Fantasy, I'm a big fan of several soundtracks with licensed music. They often expand my musical taste in areas I don't otherwise get exposed to regularly.

  23. As a long time DM, I would never do this to my players. They are not just allowing a drastic change in your core character concept (absolute no no), but they are forcing you to accept a new role which is contentious at best, and downright gross at worst. Forcing you to participate in sexual acts against your will? There's a word for that.

  24. The new Hitman trilogy is very big on putting most of the technical difficulty in the planning and stalking phase. While you can mechanically outplay the game, even overcoming some wild missteps, it's much more about finding your target, learning their pattern, and only then finally executing your strategy. Most failure states end up making the rest of the mission harder rather than being an automatic loss. Outside of the newer roguelike game mode with more between-mission permanence, your success or failure is mostly contained to an individual run of an individual mission. The difficulty isn't always high for every mission, but failure is always an option.

  25. I would not qualify the 3D Ninja Gaiden series as non-technical. Not super twitchy, not particularly unfair, but very mechanically dependent and very quick to punish a misstep. The series is considered very difficult overall, and it's mostly the technical mechanics. It's like a more methodical, grounded character action game compared to a Bayonetta or Devil May Cry.

  26. Sure, but ultimately it's just about acting like an attorney questioning your own witness:

  27. There's a reason trained attorneys bring in child witness experts. Just acting like an attorney you've seen on TV is not the play. "Tell me about naked time with Papa" is a form of leading question.

  28. I am a trained attorney, but please, do tell me more.

  29. I can easily believe this and still recommend OP flag in local specialist help regarding this stuff rather than rely on their own interrogation based on the advice of internet strangers. You may be an attorney, maybe even dealing with child trauma cases, but they are likely not. They are a deeply concerned parent.

  30. My kids are homeschooled and a random person has never come up to them to ask why they aren’t in school. Weird.

  31. At one point I had thought truancy officers were a myth or at least a thing of the past. Another weird anachronism from a Looney Tunes rerun. Turns out it's just not a thing in my region at any of the school districts I attended as a kid.

  32. Years a go I bought a lot of games on steam. After a few sales I remembered how picky I was with games. I don't do that anymore. It has 129 games. There are a lot of games that look good and interesting but just aren't my thing. Nowadays I mostly play the same games over and over again.

  33. For as many hours as I've put into Simcity 4, I still haven't tried out Cities in Motion, Cities XL, or Cities Skylines despite owning the lot of em. Also yay Dredmor!

  34. 1 - a solid update of the Fate series with prettier graphics
