  1. I have bipolar 2. Anti-depressants never worked for me. I take 200 mg Lamictal (a.m.) and 25 mg Elavil and 21 mg of Caplyta (p.m.). The only one that has helped with the depression is the Lamictal. I take the Elavil for migraine-prevention; it never helped my depression. I’ve been noticing since starting the Caplyta (and yes, the first week on it was absolute hell) that my mood is up more. I worry this is hypomania, rather than “free of depression,” since my signs of hypomania are there (thinking I’m brilliant, lots of “brilliant” ideas, overspending, etc.). My hypomanic symptoms aren’t too extreme (i.e. I overspend in the hundreds, not thousands, and I can afford it—but I’m usually pretty thrifty and save rather than spend), so mostly I’m allowing myself to enjoy feeling up. Not sure if this is healthy, though.

  2. I read this a few months ago. I thought its marketing, which gave the impression that it was about Molly’s seedy second life being revealed, led to some of my disappointment with it. This aspect of the memoir was only a tiny sliver. The rest was more about Blake’s trauma and processing and grieving. If it had been marketed as that, I would have felt better with my read of it. I felt like I was duped. And then, I felt it was too long. Everything could’ve been cut down to half its final length and we would have gotten no less of what Blake was going through.

  3. It takes me a looooong time to learn the lessons the universe throws at me. I write about the same issues for years.

  4. Tampa has vibrant music scenes—multiple, and as far as I can tell, there’s not much overlap between them, but there may be some.

  5. That sounds like a blast! Is the punk scene fairly diverse down there or does one particular kind of punk (post-hardcore, punk rock, post-punk, hardcore) define the tampa sound? Also does the Tampa scene have any overlap with St. Petersburg since they are pretty close or do they each have their own unique scenes?

  6. I consider the punk scene I’m a part of to be pretty diverse. There’s some blurriness (for me, anyway) between things like post-hardcore and hardcore and post-punk and punk, but I’d say they’re all represented, with indie rock, singer-songwriter, and some metal influences added into the mix. (Oh, yeah. There’s a distinct metal scene here, too.) No band really sounds like any other band.

  7. Did you have a resource or resources guiding on the shadow work?

  8. Hey there, I don't have typical resources to share per se. My therapist and I put together a list of hidden aspects of myself that were affecting my mental health. We set specific dates to address each item and meet weekly to discuss progress. Journaling has always been therapeutic for me, so I've incorporated it again, using shadow work-specific prompts to delve deeper into each issue. One resource that I find invaluable is '

  9. How do I actually build confidence rather than just writing about wanting to?

  10. I love your handwriting! At first I thought your entry was typed.

  11. Is self-promotion frowned upon? We describe our band as “Southern Gothic 70s-arena indie rock with a pop Americana twist.” Our first album is about love, murder, and moonshine.

  12. This is truly the next level of amazing! My next life goals! I've been journaling off and on since I was 8 years old, and I will be 43 in October. I have a couple of questions that I would like to ask you. you don't have to answer them if you don't want to. What kind of journal do you write in, and what do you use to write with?

  13. My current journal is a Leuchtturm1917. It’s okay, but not nice enough to justify spending $20+ on each. My favorite were the cheap Piccadilly journals I used to get at Barnes and Noble but are not as easily found these days, so I’m experimenting with other similar journals (black, hardcover, lined, approx. A5-sized) from Amazon, Walmart, wherever. I know that theoretically spending $20 on a journal is not a waste, since I’ll keep it for the run of my life, but I’m cheap! So if I can find something of a similar quality under $10, I’m going to do that.

  14. As of the last couple of years of years I've been having good luck finding good hardcover journals on eBay and Mercari. The best part is that it has been the prices of $15 and under, and some have even been under $10. I have got a lot of six for $31.50 that is including sales tax and shipping costs. The Piolt G2 is one of My top five pens of all time! That's perfectly fine by Me because I can talk about pens and journals all day and all night long. Are you in the Pen subreddit by chance? If you are not, I highly recommend it!

  15. I never thought to check eBay and had never heard of Mercari. I’ll check them out. Thanks for the suggestion!

  16. I have been interested in journaling for a long time, thought the tutorials makes me anxious to begin because i am not creative or don't know what to write in it.

  17. I believe everyone is creative. There are many different types of creativity. Don’t sell yourself short.

  18. I keep my journals. They’re all in a row on top of my bookshelves.

  19. Right now, it’s a Waterman Phileas fountain pen. It writes like a dream! But overall, my favorite/most-used pen is the Bic Cristal in blue. Classic, smooth, cheap.

  20. It’s set in Ohio and West Virginia, so half southern, I guess, but The Devil All the Time by Donald Ray Pollock. There’s a movie adaptation, too, and it’s also good.

  21. For the most part I include names, but sometimes I’ll use only a first initial or a code name. The code names are typically for people I don’t like and don’t want to “speak” their names.

  22. My favorite Jason album by far. Even the outtakes (Rider. Shadow. Wolf., O Punishment, This House, God’s Penny, London Bridge, and Astrabell… Christ, when will they finally release an expanded edition?!) are among the best songs he’s ever written. Shenandoah was the first dance at my wedding!

  23. First four were released with the deluxe edition on iTunes (I’m pretty sure); they’re all on YouTube. The last two are heard in studio form during the making of documentary for Josephine (also on YouTube) but have never been released.

  24. If you care to share, what were some of the eye-opening insights you had from this experience?

  25. This is my experience, yes, except the hating myself and doubting that I’m real far outlast the self-aggrandizement.

  26. “We Know Where You Sleep” by The Paper Chase

  27. The Christmas episode of The Bear. Not worst in terms of quality/writing/acting but the worst in how much anxiety it caused as a viewer (many people I’ve talked to agree with the anxiety from it).

  28. This. Best audiobook I’ve listened to so far.

  29. I hope this is an appropriate question for this thread.

  30. This is crazy! Are any of her works considered "good" aside from that review she wrote?

  31. I’m reading No Judgment currently and it’s been very slow going. Not because it’s hard but because I find it boring. “I moved to, left, and moved back to Berlin so here’s 40 pages about that.” So what?
