Fighting for family/relatives makes sense but not for society, community. If I move to some other safer parts of the world I can always make or join another community or society. And this is a fight against the second biggest and technically advanced military of the world. No point fighting, better to find a way for your family to leave the country.
I would not want to be part of a society or community which thinks I should die in war. Need me in what? There are thousands other ways to contribute to your society and I love that my society appreciates and accepts that. I would rather be a friend with a commoner than a Taliban.
