  1. Well I guess the question is what do you want to make?

  2. Depends on the exchange. Fees play a large role in how different exchanges trade. In particular exchanges with a maker taker model where there is a huge incentive to never cross the spread.

  3. No needs for quants as the market will finally become efficient!

  4. Yo, pick a song you like. Map it out. How many bars are there, is it verse chorus verse chorus verse bridge chorus? How does it flow? How do they get from one bit of the song to the next? What key is it in? What are the chord progressions? Etc. Like fully understand it. Then create a song with a similar map. It maybe a different key or chord progression, or keep it the same but make some different choices just to see how it works.

  5. Is 10M enough to retire on? Seems too low, particularly if some of it is tied up in real estate. But I guess depends on how long you think you are going to live for, how many children you have, what kind of lifestyle you aspire to, how healthy you are going to be.

  6. I would have thought a new grad would be more inclined to think 10M was enough to retire on.

  7. Based in Sydney. A lot of ex-Optiver people.

  8. Supposing you knew the answer to this, what would you be able to do with the knowledge?

  9. People are solving leetcode problems?

  10. Yes. But then I always try to leave work, at work.

  11. I think it is probably broadly true, although obviously there are exceptions, both for those who leave after undergrad and also those from PhD. How many good PhDs do you know that had poor undergrad?

  12. For example, say hypothetically I am a phd student at one of MIT/Harvard/Stanford but did my undergrad at a tier 2 school (something like Notre Dame / BYU / UCLA / UNC / etc ). How much with the undergrad be seen as a bad signal?

  13. If you have a PhD from a top flight school people will overlook your undergraduate career. It's just hard to get into a PhD programme at a top flight school without doing well in undergrad.

  14. Yes. But then again I started ages ago so things I think would be very different starting now to starting when I started. That being said I didn't get it to it for the money.

  15. Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra.

  16. It is really hard to say. Like I don't know everyone else's math level and getting a degree doesn't really mean anything 5 years after it. Furthermore comparing a degree from school x and school y is difficult.

  17. Yeah I kind of love this, actually. Makes me wanna write a silly noir

  18. Check out Dirk Gently then.
