  1. Unfortunately our society is litigious and I’ve seen all US pilots be very conservative with the seatbelt sign.

  2. Seems unlikely, but United has no change fees as long as you don’t book Basic Economy. You can cancel your airfare and receive a credit for what you paid to be used on any other flight within about a year.

  3. Just ask the flight attendant as you board for an extender. They’ll be discrete about it.

  4. No meals for AK. They’ll have snack boxes and some hot food for purchase. You can buy an E+ seat after purchase using miles. It’s usually valued at $0.01 per mile.

  5. Short Haul: E-175, 18” wide economy seats, good upgrade odds, quick boarding

  6. For sanity and security, pay extra to book a one stop at Tokyo with ANA. You’ll also save about 10h versus going the long way.

  7. The 737-700 has no removed seats (maybe you’re thinking of the 757-200?).

  8. They also add extra service into MSN for Badger games, though not this time of year of course.

  9. If it’s a Rolex AD (listed on Rolex.com) it’s a legitimate watch. If it’s an AD that has fake reviews, you can assume it was just someone on the waitlist who got annoyed.

  10. I know you all know this, but Dr. Dao wasn’t removed from a United flight. He was removed from a regional carrier operating as United Express.

  11. True, but it was United gate agents and United refused to increase the compensation until they reached a volunteer

  12. Starts at $600? Is this based on extensive research or did you decide your opinion is fact?

  13. True, I was speaking anecdotally as indicated by “I think”. I had an oversold flight in February and they started volunteers and $600. Last night, my flight’s first class was oversold and they offered downgrades to E+ for $600.

  14. NTA. You were very polite. Block these people on Facebook.

  15. Flew CMH-EWR-GRU-SDU last year (Brazil connections with GOL and Azul). My bag was tagged all the way to SDU in CMH. At GRU, I had to collect my bag and drop it at the GOL desk, then proceed to domestic security.

  16. So everything was all covered? All you ended up having to do was Get your bag and Transfer it to GOL? Which is great to hear since that’s the exact Company that’s supposed to be my connecting flight

  17. Thankfully United’s refund system for malfunctioning IFE and other add-ons is pretty good. Yeah if a bag is majorly delayed, the passenger should have the free reimbursed.

  18. NTA, but just tell Kristen you can’t make it, and offer Andrea congratulations (either directly or through Andrea).

  19. NTA, but there’s probably a sensitive way to find a solution.

  20. A door plug IS the mid cabin emergency exit. Hence the word “door” vs window.

  21. You are very insistent look at picture at the top of this article

  22. I apologize. I researched further. As I now understand it, the plug is used in place of a second emergency exit door when one is not required due to lower seating capacity. Carriers like United, Delta, and Alaska, all of which have First Class, have fewer seats so are not required to have two exits over each wing. So one is plugged and paneled over on the inside. The same fuselage in single class configuration would have higher seat count, thus requiring two exit doors on each side.

  23. Doesn't clear already have totally separate lines at some airports, instead of merging in with Precheck? I think I saw this at either ATL or IAH -- I forget which.

  24. Some checkpoints at some airports have separate lanes, but most don’t.

  25. Clear isn't related to Precheck - you can use Clear with or without it, and IME Clear directs people to the appropriate TSA lane, Precheck or regular - and you always join the back of whichever line it is, only ahead of the people waiting for the ID check you bypass. TSA choosing to do spot checks isn't Clear's fault.

  26. I think the overlap is substantial - perhaps 90+%.

  27. United Gateway allows you to earn miles for no annual fee. The Bilt Mastercard is very rewarding and you earn decent miles on dining, travel and even rent. There’s no annual fee and you can transfer Bilt miles to United and many other airline and hotel programs.

  28. I was born in the 1990’s and yes absolutely. Winters generally are milder and drier. Summers have gotten hotter and stormier.

  29. United international arrivals park in either B or C (nearly a 50-50 split). If you end up in the wrong terminal, take the AirTrain one stop and you’ll be fine.
