  1. The guys that actually got PTAD between commissioning and TBS are few and far between, so be prepared to find a summer job after commissioning. From my class of about 15 lieutenants, two of us got PTAD at our unit and the others just found employment between graduation and reporting to TBS.

  2. Sorry for lack of clarity, but I didn’t get any PTAD. From those who did, from my commissioning group and others, hours were either dogshit or non-existent

  3. What are those glasses? I think I've seen them elsewhere and my vague understanding is that they will reproduce any HDMI signal?

  4. I have a mobile setup not unlike the one above, but I use Viture glasses. I have an adapter on my dock that does HDMI to USB-C so my screen can project onto the glasses

  5. DNC and T Block are two of the greatest camo patterns to have ever been wore by a Marine.

  6. That newspaper article is taken so out of context lmao. Israel, or as it was called at the time, Mandatory Palestine, was a part of the boycott of importing German goods as a protest of the rise of Nazi-ism that took place in 1933 with the end goal of ending harassment of Jews in Germany. It didn’t, but it did have large economic effects on Germany.

  7. Paint stripper followed by a high powered pressure washer. Make sure you let the paint stripper soak in well.

  8. One summer I worked at a NASCAR speedway and for a few weeks all I did was exactly this, but on the enormous painted decals on the inner track. I can confirm that this works. Pressure washer I was using also had a propane flame, though.

  9. Extremely cost-effective way to deplete Russian and even North Korean munitions reserves.

  10. I saw a figure a while back, and I’m not entirely confident in it so please correct me otherwise, but at the time the US had spent 10% of one year of its defense budget to effectively eliminate half of Putin’s war machine. That’s absolutely cost effective, and with no American lives lost.

  11. Second Armslist. I’ve sold a couple guns on there before and I’ve definitely gotten some sketchballs that said things like they needed it ASAP and would have a friend pick it up for them. Sike. Screenshots to the ATF tip line.

  12. You sent the ATF pictures of their own glowing fedbois. Wise move though.

  13. I’ve almost definitely had glowies lmao. I’m sure there’s a whole division of interns trying to buy 17 3/4” shotguns and Glock switches on armslist.

  14. SgtMaj Ruiz was recently blasted and shut down on a congressional panel by Congresswoman Mace in regard to Laurel Bay housing. Beaufort is great, and there’s always events going on, but nice weather means sand fleas and they will ruin your day. Outside of Walmart most shopping is going to be in Bluffton, though.

  15. The M9 cracked and failed until its final days in service. During my pistol qual at TBS, i watched a couple dudes go through two or three guns and mine retired at the end of qual because it had a cracked slide and locking block.

  16. I know this is an older post, but how’d these work out for you? Can you take them on and off? Or once they’re on they stay? Did you get the 60 or 48?

  17. I got the 48” ones and they were phenomenal. I put them on once before my trip from the Low Country to Southwest Virginia and no issues with stability. I would walk around the car and pump the air out every day before getting in the car, but that was more of a paranoia thing than a necessity.

  18. Usaa was 2200 dollars more per year than the insurance I have now through Costco. No accidents and two cars over 8 years old.

  19. Didn’t know I could get insurance with Costco. Is it through Connect? If so, hit me with that referral number big dog

  20. How much sqft for the flooring? What kind of flooring? Standard white for the paint? How many walls need to be painted? Any ceilings need paint?

  21. I don’t have answers to all those questions. I was hoping for recommendations for contractors so I could have one go in with my realtor so they could give me a quote.

  22. Oh then yeah the Bul is the answer. Unsure about now that the Platypus has bull barrels, but from what I understood, it fell short in being able to keep up when shooting fast and accurately compared to its counterparts

  23. Looks like they recently neutered their LEO discount, but as LEO you still get 15% off.

  24. The wait is currently about 3 years. But, my USMC brother, there is another way. The MCL meets out there monthly to shoot on range 1 (100 yard range). If you're a MCL (I'm not currently, but have thought about it) member, you can go. This may be loophole you can use.

  25. May be interested under the same circumstances. Currently active duty and shooting for the Parris Island Shooting Team, PCSing to Quantico this summer.

  26. I used to work at WTBN in Quantico. If you're going to a different unit, still get in w the guys at weapons. They do all sorts of fun stuff on the ranges plus really good/practical people as well.

  27. I’m getting a kind of warm handoff to the OpsO at WTBN. He and the current PIST OIC are friends, and when the new CIAP order goes live I’ll have to get to know them anyway since I’ll be drawing ammo to shoot my matches.

  28. Hopefully someone can fix the dreadful AI lol.

  29. Which one? I just got the game and planning to give it a shot this weekend

  30. I don’t even remember the name. If you go into mod.io on the homepage it’ll be one of the featured mods

  31. I had an Army recruiter hit me up when I was a few months into TBS. I’m not sure what got mixed up, because I came out of high school with the 4 year scholarship so I had been under some contract or other with the Corps for four years at that point

  32. Just because people call it Fred Vegas doesn’t mean it’s anything remotely close to Vegas. Colonial Beach is cool unless you’re a poc- used to be a sundown town. There is no night life here, but if you drive an hour north to NoVA (proper)/DC or south to Richmond you’ll find tons of entertainment. Traffic on 95 is god awful. Get an EZ Pass. Downtown has a bunch of great spots to eat. My personal fav downtown is Farenheit 132, an amazing steakhouse. If you’re into breweries, there are a bunch in the area. Potomac Point Winery in Stafford is also really nice!

  33. 132 was my go-to for date night with my wife during TBS. Excited to be back in the area to have it available again, albeit this time with little ones.

  34. A rifle has more uses than an LMG. Aside from all the reasons they talked about in the Marine Corps times on why the IAR was chosen, I think we also have to remember that it condenses multiple weapons into one system- a rifle, an automatic rifle, and a baby DMR. That makes training and logistics much easier than if you had the m4, m16, and m249.

  35. So… ditch the whole thing for a MARS-L Piston?

  36. I mean yeah that would be dope but idk how the USMC wants to go about it when they already bought the rifle itself, ya know? Like they're cheap about the wrong things.

  37. I recently heard through the grapevine that KFF is no longer using any packaging materials in his Sordin's boxes, he's filling them to the brim with skittles (upon customer request).

  38. I know this is a meme, but my dad will use an air popper and fill a box with plain popcorn as package padding when he sells stuff on eBay. Cheaper than other alternatives and completely biodegradable

  39. Make sure to use this energy and get the best out of your time at VT. You'll be an alumnus for wayyyyy longer than you'll be a student.

  40. Once I was an alum it was almost jarring to realize. About a year after graduation I was hanging out with friend that I’ve been close with since freshman year and it just kinda hit us that we could go back for all the events we wanted, all the games we wanted, even come back and work for the Corps, but we’d never been cadets marching to the game again, or for him he’d never bring Skipper over to Lane again.

  41. There will be plenty of procrastination when I (hopefully) start grad school next fall, but unfortunately it won’t be at Tech since they have no programs in my wheelhouse.

  42. I got banned from New River in 2012-13. I kinda have mixed feelings about that place. Even to this day lol 😂

  43. Unsure about the Army, but in the Marine Corps our records are destroyed after 10 years. 3 years active, 7 years archived.

  44. The book itself focus for 8 pages on that battle, we are absolutely in the right to criticise what is a poor attempt of a realistic description of warfare. The book is great, it still have flaws.

  45. Max Brooks is a senior fellow at the Modern War Institute at West Point

  46. Makes mailboxes the HOA’s responsibility to fix if damaged or destroyed

  47. That's against regs for mail carriers. Call your post office with your address and the day of delivery so that carrier will end up with a one-on-one with their manager and/or the postmaster.

  48. Already done. This particular carrier already has a bad reputation in my neighborhood for this kind of thing so we all started reporting her whenever she’d pull anything.

  49. mailbox in the middle of the sidewalk is crazy

  50. It’s a pain in the ass. It makes walking with a stroller annoying as hell. But it also makes mailboxes the HOA’s responsibility to fix if damaged or destroyed

  51. As a carrier, the only time I've seen a package dropped off like that was when the owner wouldn't retrain their dog, and the owner(s) were right there and did nothing like a deer in the headlights and did nothing.

  52. This particular carrier is absolutely awful and I’ve reported them multiple times. One of their favorite things to do is drop everyone’s mail/packages off at one house so that the homeowners have ti walk the street and deliver everyone’s mail themselves.
