  1. I’m aging myself a bit but “The Black Stallion” and all the follow-up books. She’s at the perfect age. I would watch The Black Stallion movie with her first, both because it’s good and it makes getting through book 1 easier (it’s old and a bit clunky).

  2. Gideon the Ninth AUDIObook by Muir. One of the funnest times you will have with any book ever. Make your fingers run to the app store now to get it.

  3. Keep the band with the sapphires and wear it on your right hand.

  4. Yeah, I meant no romance (or at least very very little romance for side characters is okay, but nothing major for the protag).

  5. This might be bad. But for some reason, watching clear water sprouting out of the ground like this, makes me feel happy.

  6. If you look at my post history (go back about 13 posts or 3 years) I have a nice video of a natural sand boil. It looks exactly like this, only pretty.

  7. It reminds me of a Reddit story I read in some comments a long time ago: A guy noticed the lady next to him at the gas station grabbed the diesel pump instead of premium. She had one of those brand-new, monster SUVs. He tried to approach her knowing he’d know how to siphon it out and she told him to, “f$&@ off” and she kept taking on her phone about creeps, etc. So he walked away knowing she was about to destroy her engine.

  8. Maybe start with literary fantasy and work your way closer to more genre heavy stuff?

  9. These are good suggestions, OP. I would start with Circe which is great and add an Encyclopeadia of Faeries. Circe is a rich story with adventure and the Faerie book is cozy. Both have strong, smart ladies.

  10. I was born and raised in Illinois and drove the length of the state many times. Good god that’s a horrible drive. Nothing but flat, endless corn fields - your brain starts to zombie out.

  11. It’s really fun to watch Gillian in both Sex Education and The Crown. She disappears into her roles, especially Margaret Thatcher.

  12. As someone else said, Project Hail Mary is great for overall quality and story.

  13. I have 3 books left until I’ve listened to all the good 😮‍💨 thanks for the heads up

  14. There are 6 Dungeon Crawler Books with more on the way! So at least 8.

  15. Finally it's my time to shine! We got married almost 25 years ago and I absolutely hated the idea of chunky or multiple bands on my finger. I wanted one, elegant, pave band with the diamond only. Husband was like, ok. Diamond lady was like, ok. Priest never noticed or cared. And I absolutely love it. I still hate the idea of having two there. Now that I have an anniversary coming up I might add another ring on my right hand just for fun.

  16. There is a lot of food though, the main character is literally a farmer and delights in making new, tasty meals for his friends.

  17. I am reading Beware of Chicken right now and it reminds me greatly of Legends and Lattes. It probably helps that the audio is read by Travis Baldree.

  18. The Dungeon Crawler Carl books are fun and absorbing, but please try the AUDIObook for book 1. You won’t regret it.

  19. Not sure if it’s sci-fi, fantasy, a LitRPG spin-off or what, but I am enjoying, “Beware of Chicken.” I would call it a cozy book for fans of Legends and Lattes. A Kung-fu master just wants to farm and enjoy the simple life with overly dramatic animals.

  20. If she doesn’t do this, she can divorce him alleging infidelity; go to a lawyer, not a dating website. If she wants to get revenge, show that she can be better than him, not angry towards him.

  21. If this is the US it probably doesn’t matter. Most states are no-fault.

  22. It looks like England and Wales are no-fault, Scotland and Northern Ireland would have the old system. Either way, OP needs to speak with an attorney.

  23. A Short Stay in Hell. It starts funny like a South Park episode, "Wait, THAT religion was the right one?!" Then it does a good job describing, "infinity" and what a nightmare it would be.

  24. I did a ton of research on this last November. Of course, that is NOT the time to buy one, lesson learned. You want a tree that has both the highest number of branches as well as lights. You could literally make a chart comparing them and if an online listing does not state the branch or light number, skip it.

  25. If you like a bit of Kung fu lore and gardening, “Beware of Chicken.” An accidental Master decides to take up farming. The audio by Baldree is delightful.

  26. 1.) coat all topsoil with mosquito bits 2.) place “Catchmaster” fly paper things everywhere. That one-two punch will do the trick. Both are sold on Amazon.

  27. Other option: the funds should have been in a college account (like a 529) which would have been secure from bankruptcy. Wife files, gets rid of medical debt, daughter’s fund is ok. If they didn’t have money there, both parents are at fault for poor planning.

  28. Living in south-central WI and I like to garden… well FUuuUuu…

  29. For a silly palate cleanser, Scalzi’s first book, “Agent to the Stars.”

  30. I love Alexander Skarsgard, but I agree it would have been nice had the show embraced MB’s androgyny. Elliott Page would have been perfect, but if it’s got to be a guy, Skarsgard is a great choice.

  31. I will add that my sister and I disagreed on what we assumed this main character’s “gender” would be. In her head the sec unit was female and in mine (m) it was male. That fascinated me almost as much as the series.

  32. My book club also has the same argument. The older ladies who read the book think Murderbot skews female but of course those of us who listened to the AUDIO think he skews male (male narrator). So I do wish the audiobook had more of a non-binary voice, oh well.
