It should be fairly easy to demonstrate that with your current spend rate and savings rates, extrapolated out over your careers, you'll end up with a pretty enormous retirement fund. Then do the math on how much per month you'll be able to draw down from that.
A recommendation for you that you may have read, published in my birth year, Ishmael by Daniel Quinn. I only just read it, but it sums up the philosophy I feel is at play in daily life. Thanks for the recs, maybe your husband will read Ishmael too.
