  1. Manila (2 million) is only a tiny fraction of the metro area (14 million). But it's kinda considered cheating considering that historically all other cities in the metro area are administered differently and used to be part of other provinces politically detached from the capital. Even to this day, there's no political head for all cities in Metro Manila.

  2. Last I heard East Timor has a more powerful passport than PH, and they're basically like the poorest SEA country. IMO I do not think even a PH reaching First-World status will change this. Kind of like the "why PH have few tourists" when the geography played enough role in that.

  3. The fact that Serbia quickly removed the visa free privileges for Indians in 2023 tells a lot about attitudes towards certain demographics.

  4. Yun nga eh. IIRC 2014/2015 pa yata yng migrant/refugee crisis sa EU but the fact that they IMO are still at a loss for a long-term solution or even immediate ones for that while being so quick on the Serbia case (partida they're not even EU member but otherwise I do not think it will be different). Would not be surprised if this case straight up goes full Venn Diagram with the views towards the Roma people in EU.

  5. If there's one thing that unites entire Europe, it's that mutual hatred towards Roma people.

  6. Well to be fair IDK of a single country that has gotten a large minority of Muslims where that has not happened or is not a potential outcome. Philippines, India, Lebanon, Yugoslavia, nearly all of Africa and so forth. The reality is that I don't know of any situation where there is genuine peaceful coexistence between Muslims once they reach a certain threshold. At the very least you get violence and mass unrest constantly.

  7. Despite the history of radical Islam, an overwhelming majority of Muslim Filipinos aren't fans on imposing Sharia law to non-Muslims.

  8. But they're more vulnerable to earthquakes and flooding -- two things the Philippines are prone to.

  9. Japan's spaghetti electricity wires are humorously romanticized in popular culture.

  10. Nah come one. This is Europe. Wear that nice watch if you want. Just do not carelessly put on open handbag on your side in the paris metro with the phone sticking out. Zip that bag and keep it in front of you and you will be fine.

  11. Agree on this. If you dress tacky but STILL look like a stereotypical tourist, thieves would still prey on you.

  12. Zurich HB is a known hotspot for thieves but I spent a lot of time there during my visit to Switzerland and encountered zero problems. They key aspect is not to make yourself look like a target and have high alert on your belongings at all times.

  13. -Yoav Gallant-like dehumanization of Pinoys by Chinese state media and officials

  14. Chinoys will also be rounded up by the PLA first thing like what happened to them in WWII.

  15. Its not boring where I am. It also dependent on perspective. And also, most pinoys don’t really integrate themselves in the country’s culture. They are most likely the ones who isolate themselves and yung hindi nakakalet go sa pagkapinoy sa labas ng bansa.

  16. I'm also pleased that many Filipinos get a lot of positive feedback from locals in Western countries even those in the working class segment, that cannot be said for Muslim immigrants from the Middle East.

  17. Oh the duality of being a Koreaboo and Anti-Korean at the same time

  18. Encourage an learning environment that upholds critical thinking and inquisitorial discussion. I've noticed that we're too pedagogic in terms of teaching and only the few top universities usually treat students like interested learning adults.

  19. DepEd should adopt the letter grade system, 50 is the passing grade which is D, anything below ay fail na. I think that’s good naman since mahirap din magfail except nalang kung wala talagang effort.

  20. Many "terror professors" in top universities still resort to curving grades (barely passing for most of the class) otherwise a lot will fail.

  21. I blame those youtube shorts and tiktoks, ever since i got addicted to youtube shorts, i think my IQ went down.

  22. Poor attention span. The film Idiocracy perfectly serves as a cautionary tale on the dangers of over reliance in modern technology. "Ow! My Balls!" Just got too real and synonymous with TikTok.

  23. Most Filipinos will be shocked the grime when they visit Paris or Rome the first time. Some parts even worse than Manila.

  24. not developed country, still on going but there is another country said they are not developed country as well but they always said they are developed in their media.

  25. Taiwan is definitely a developed country, albeit a much more recent one and urban planning is still underway compared to others.

  26. Shaburi's Weekday Plate Lunch set for 450. You'll get the access to an authentic Japanese buffet for 1 hour. Great value.

  27. I don’t think many people are taking Hakeem over Larry. Many wouldn’t take Kobe over Larry either.

  28. but why? hourly direct train is only €14,50 and so much faster.

  29. It's also far more comfortable but not without issues like Flixbus. The last time I took an NS International train from Schiphol to Antwerp, the whole service only stopped at Brussel Central and it caused trouble for those continuing to Midi.

  30. Go to corporate hubs like in BGC, Makati and Ortigas where well educated white collar professionals are dime a dozen. Many of them aren't even committing into dating and want to stay perpetually single, much less having kids.

  31. The question is not whether our economy is stable. Economists will say a resounding YES.

  32. There's a field in economics called developmental economics, and it is assessed that if inequality is on a worsening trend that is not a good sign of a stable economy.

  33. Alam ko sa investment lang malas yun ghost month nila.

  34. Nope. Special events like weddings, business openings and even adventurous travels are to be avoided during Ghost Month over bad omen and tempting bad fates.

  35. kung wala pang socmed trolls this could derail the whole duterte's family political career, but the trolls are in peak season now.

  36. Yes. In the west kasi medyo iba yung tingin nila sa mga Asian guys (including east asians/south east asians etc). Pero mga babae there’s a sort of fetishization minsan dahil “exotic” daw (worse, oriental).

  37. It's not exactly harder to Asian men, but rather easier for Asian women over race-gender dynamics.

  38. It’s a problem that needs to be addressed but I’m not buying the claim that we are the ‘bullying capital’ when Korea’s ‘The Glory’ is based on a true story. Japanese students also ostracizes bullied people from the class. Like you don’t exist to them. You’re like a ghost. Anlala nun

  39. In China, there's even cases of spiking someone's drinks in HS with aphrodisiacs.

  40. It's also because that we don't get insane levels of mass tourism unlike our neighbors hence the lack of need to upgrade our tourist infrastructure. Our tourist density is still pretty low compared to Thailand or Vietnam. I just went to Phuket a few weeks ago and the sheer number of tourists there makes El Nido and Coron like a remote village.

  41. And why do you think? Because of our transpo system. Bakit nga ba sila pupunta Pinas eh kung mas madali magplano ng biyahe to Thailand.

  42. Our tourism investment must be set higher by our government to make things work. They payoff (PROFITS) would be tremendous in the long run.

  43. I always ask them to go to the nearest police station, church or brgy hall at dun manghingi ng tulong.

  44. Ito yung sagot ko palagi sa mga grifters. They immediately walk away upon telling that.

  45. I blame him for contributing to the deterioration of China-Japan relations during his tenure as PM, which in turn partially led to China's more aggressive foreign policy.
