There's a valuable life lesson - do your job & go home on time every time. I used to do ridiculously long hours - welding/fabrication - when I was younger. It was OK, I had muscles in my spit & stamina forever - & was hourly paid. Despite all their best efforts I point blank refused to go on a salary because I hadn't fallen out of a tree & hit my head. Made a lot of money, more than some of my managers which pissed them off no end. These days? A flat forty hours & then I'm gone - so gone it's like I never existed.
You're not the first - & definitely won't be the last - person who was taken advantage of for way too long. But that is the past & now it's on to a brighter future so don't beat yourself up over it.
