I specifically will put together groups with “newb friendly”. As long as people have patience and are fine dying a few times I’m fine teaching. Does it take a while? Yeah, but once you get the right kind of people it’s easy going. I’d rather teach people the right way to do it then reteach that one fucking guy that does it ‘his way’ then dies twice and leaves.

Almost immediately my grandfather stacked a claim to my parents estate because of a small amount of my money my father had verbally agreed to pay him. 2yr of legal battle later I was free from all that with almost exactly how much left that you’re receiving. When the 2016 MacBook pros came out with the Touch Bars. Some guy came in, had just bought the maxed out one about 2 weeks prior (probably $4k-$5k). He’d been partying the night before (Boulder/college town) and at some point in the night decided to work on some reports or something and puked in the laptop. Luckily for him, he had bought AppleCare+ which for a small fee covered liquid damage, but the catch is Apple rejects anything that’s biohazard (Blood, chemical, puke). We did ‘spill cleans’ in the shop where we’d take the laptop apart run all the boards through an ultrasonic cleaner, dry them then rebuild and it had a decent success rate. Usually we’d charge about $200 for the service but it was for coffee, soda, tea, etc, not puke. I told the guy that for $500 I’d clean it and make sure Apple didn’t know it was puke so he could claim the warranty on it, he not only paid that but a $100 rush fee as well. So I spent 2 days, totally gutted it, let the whole laptop sit in a tub of piping hot water, then alcohol, then ultrasonic cleaned it, dried it, then at the very end I poured a cup of coffee on it to seal the deal that it was just a coffee spill. Apple covered it.
I work for an actual cyber security company so our Ociso flips out over this stuff. We have a stick 5 minute lock timer on statins for this reason. Typically I’ll also do drive-by’s on peoples desks and leave reminder post it’s for them if I see it. We can’t really change the wallpaper, orientation, etc cause that’s all enforced vie policy so it reverts. I’m also happy ratting people out to SOC cause they just enroll them in training as well.
