  1. Bo Beats is a complete tool. He's the biggest corporate sycophant out of all of them. Plus I'm sick of seeing his stupid bloody face in thumbnails all the time.

  2. There was something about the feeding frenzy over the Digitakt that was very different from normal reviews.

  3. Well, here's the thing - I have not even once used Dixie2+ as a sound source. I bought it purely as an audio rate modulator to clock the sample rate of my Tiptop Z-DSP fx unit. I figured it was a nice and versatile little module to do that, and it could also send other audio rate signals around the rest of the system. Win-win.

  4. I see more people talking good things about Dixie now. My set up is fairly primitive in that I do not have big modules with processors in them. Most of my stuff is fairly small and limited in function. Pretend it's still the 70's. I have a Clouds and am going to sell it because it always sounds the same and it takes up too much space physically and in a mix.

  5. The modules you state are not available where I live (South Korea) so I don't know them at all. The selection here is very limited, and you have to rely heavily on the used market, and online shopping, because the one single physical store that sold modular shut down their modular department last year, and because of Covid bollocks, I never got a chance to visit them in person, despite how much I bought from them online. I can still go see them now, but their shop will only be selling the popular stuff that moves fast and rakes in the cash. There won't be any modular gear there if I visit. In a country of nearly 50 million people, we don't even have one store catering to this hobby anymore. There are 2 others online, but that's it. Choices here are VERY limited, but this is where my job is, and where my life is. I just have to work around it as I can. Buying direct from overseas not only costs extra shipping, but Korea also has high import taxes for electronics. The idea is to protect local industry (LG, Samsung, etc) but they don't make modular gear. Me importing a module isn't a threat to their business, as the product i'm buying is not made by them, but that is the law, and it is punitive by nature. It's stupid, but it's the reality I live in.

  6. It's the same issue on some level here as well. Some of the things I am most drawn to are made in europe or asia. Shipping and taxes add up these days.

  7. Not long ago a draft of OD&D was leaked out because it was sitting in a national document archive.

  8. Oh I get that. Well good luck finding the perfect module for what you want to do! Have fun

  9. Glad to hear that! I was fiddling with eurorack for a year before I had a usable system lol but once its sorted its really joyful and the community of manufacturers and users is special alot of old ravers and artists

  10. i'm about 2 years into it. Slowly refining what I need for my euro to complement my hardware set up.

  11. This reply belongs in the main sub: If I want a DAW in a box, I'll buy a new laptop.

  12. Surprised no one is asking you the obvious question: How many can you fit up your ass?

  13. I have a lot of synths and one little synth I simply adore is the Liven 8 bit warps.

  14. I have heard of Liven, but that one in particular. All these form factors blow my mind really. The last new synth I bought when it came out was the Alesis Micron. I thought that was small!

  15. The Micron is a lovely little machine. Incredible sounding for its size. I have one and I am on the fence over selling it off. It's cool sounding and small, but will I ever use it? So much new stuff is so much easier to program.

  16. It's a nice tool to use with a small modular rack. It will take a modular cable as an external input.

  17. One can sequence it. The other can play it. Both are great for chiptunes and modern music!

  18. I use the liven a lot and it's far from just a chip tune machine. It can make some beautiful sounds. It can also make some scary mean sounds.

  19. That's a common drippy reverb sound. Probably try a spring reverb setting for it.

  20. Odds are you have an IC chip that is blown or about to blow. This module is notorious for this. They are all socketed ICs and I think are 4-8 dollars a piece to replace. YMMV depending on which case and PSU you use, I think. But it seems to happen more-or-less randomly to a lot of folks.

  21. I got mavis totally separately cos it was on sale lol. Then got the nifty case cos it was on a banga sale lel and provided a good way of interacting with the mavis. Tbh I got the ghost on a real whim. Though mavis +ghost is an incredible pair that is super versatile and sonically super rich b

  22. Seeing as I'm here, this may also answer my question to: how long before I can peel this condom off?

  23. I ended up buying System80 860 MK2. It is 10hp (vs 4), but has attenuators, and I really like the sound.

  24. An obsession with using pedals on my synths is what finally got me into doing modular.

  25. If you like BoC, you could get the Intellijel Atlantis, which is basically an SH-101 clone; that's a synth they used often.

  26. I was a bit perplexed by seeing such a small case being filled with really big oscillators.

  27. My advice is to start somewhat minimal and add things as you feel comfortable with what you have. It's easy to buy modules that do not suit your personal style.
