Without EOL, design the farm to have enough spawn spaces and remove mobs faster. Lower is better of course but without EOL the goal is mostly just removing the mobs as fast as possible. If fall damage is the best for you, then you'll have to raise the farm. The difference is between a y1 farm with 30 second lifespan and only needing 50 spawning spaces or y40 and 10 second lifespan needing 500 spawn spaces. (None of those numbers are accurate, just for illustration)

Depends on 17 things, but yes healing under hook is usually the best use of time. Just because you can hear the heartbeat doesn't mean the killers coming for you. Sometimes you can even use the icons to see that the killers just in chase nearby. Running to a corner of the map for a 16s heal ends up wasting 45 seconds plus. Need to coordinate running, get far enough away, heal, then need to run back into the map to get to a gen.

EPS is not the original. The original of that version is scicrafts creeper farm. That name was given to a farm designed based off scicrafts creeper farm, but in reference to portal spam from EOL farms, but still made after EOL. It uses water to block portal light. But newer versions, water doesn't block light so you'd have to downgrade to 1.12
I just learned that the rune which reveals his location is only found in Stonehenge structures. We've been clearing every village and tower thinking it can be there as well.
stonehenge, or a "n" kinda shape, two rocks vertical and one across the top like a bridge, maybe 10ft tall. Those are the only two places ive seen his rune.
Iron never needed EOL. new iron farms are all the same just how many can you stack before you lag. and gold farms can still use portals, they never needed eol.
"vanilla" paper changes tons of base game mechanics, including the one theyre most proud of not Changing. If the game lags, paper will skip ticks. If you have a repeater for example going to be powered in the tick it skips, the redstone will simply stop just prior to that repeater. Or observer won't detect a change in that tick. There's a million ways skipping ticks can break redstone. Sure paper is a little better for lag than lithium. But lag spikes can happen on either for whatever Minecraft reason. Which could break whatever's running in the world. There's a lot more paper changes but that's my biggest reason.
Ah sorry, I should clarify I meant in terms of performance. I am fully aware of how paper can break redstone. I have been trying to convince the owners of a server I play on to change it, but after we each looked into it we were indecisive with pros and cons for both.
Paper with optimization will be better for lag. Plugins are easier to use, more variety with plugins and admin stuff. Fabric has ledger and that's about it for admin control/grief protection. And fabric/lithium is very close to paper for lag prevention but not quite as good
1.12 is very... Not laggy compared to newer versions. Also has the most time in techmc so you'll be able to find a lot more cool things to do, like bedrock item or RNG things like no more rain. Faster farms because of lower lag, better chunkloading, better spawning rules (imo).
