  1. Flowserve is a pretty good place to work.

  2. All my tools now are ran off of a laser 🤓

  3. What area of the country are you located?

  4. A lot of places only hire 18 year olds so they can train their way and keep costs low…

  5. Still have one in Battle Creek, Michigan last I knew.

  6. The man in the duck outfit is from my small hometown of Plainwell, Michigan. Think he’s in some hot water legally right now.

  7. Switch jobs… like every two years. Do that for about 6-10 years until you feel like you know exactly what kind of shop you want to work for and how much money you want to make. Never take a paycut, always sell yourself and then learn as you go (every shop is different in machines/processes/materials/etc) Make sure to ask in the job interview how well they train.

  8. A lot of people go there to drink/party/gamble before they commit suicide. It’s almost never on the news because the casinos pay the police department to not let it get public due to bad publicity. The Las Vegas police department is probably the best funded police department in the nation due to this.

  9. My department has quite a few microns and light band callouts

  10. Flowserve/Parker Aerospace for good pay around Kalamazoo.

  11. Most old guys still in this trade are obsolete.

  12. Larry the cable guy, he’s from Nebraska… not the south

  13. Worked somewhere that I was running 3 tsugami Swiss machines and literally came in everyday to crashed machines and bad parts. Not trying to be a “one upper” by any means, but it’s literally the worst way to start a shift, especially when you have your own process dialed in and other machinists only care about a paycheck. Most places won’t even fire people these days as long as they show up and act like they give a damn.

  14. Clearance still lives with his parents, and clearances parents have a real good marriage

  15. I always make sure to eat at In N Out at least once during every trip.

  16. Burchett Quality tool in Kalamazoo, Michigan does it

  17. Coney Island hot dogs, buddy’s pizza, some place that is know for a good pastie and faygo pop (particularly rock and rye) should definitely be on your list of things to try.

  18. First shop I worked at was mainly HAAS/Fanuc, the haas required warm up programs in the winter due to the shop being so cold. I’ve “crashed” a machine due to not knowing whether or not it was warmed up, but I was also super green to the job at the time.
