  1. Look up what happened in Sacramento, CA and how their MLS hopes went like a fart in the wind

  2. Sacramento falling apart was because the money bag ownership group in that situation backed out.

  3. I know nothing about soccer. How many games do they play and how long is there season? What would a MLS stadium be used for when there are no games?

  4. In terms of home games: 17 games between March and October, plus Leagues Cup each summer which gives at least 1 more game. So 18 are guaranteed.

  5. Multi-purpose stadiums intended for baseball and soccer are pretty rough from a soccer stand point, and USL is pushing all of their teams to have stadiums that are soccer specific (or at least not also baseball, not sure what capability USL actually has to make that decision though). And if there's any hope of Eleven making the jump to MLS, it definitely won't be in a soccer/baseball stadium.

  6. MLS will not consider multi-use stadiums.

  7. There's an asterisk on that, but they won't do another baseball stadium for sure (NYCFC is finally getting their SSS sorted out 11ish years later, the Yankee Stadium stop-gap became semi-permanent).

  8. The other option was Jefferson Shreve who was a much bigger bag of "yikes"

  9. Hang on... Why does Monterrey get all their stars in this graphic but the Crew doesn't?

  10. Top stars represent Primera, Clausura, and Apertura titles. Bottom stars represent CONCACAF championships. Weirdly, Sounders don't have the CONCACAF star represented on their kits.

  11. I understand that, shouldn't there be three stars above the Crew for their MLS titles?

  12. Well, yea, if your criteria is "MLS cups won in the last 5 years" it will be hard for the Guardians or Buckeyes to match that. If it's recent championships and we're comparing to the buckeyes, the Women's Hockey team won a championship more recently. So, I guess they are the best team in Ohio right now.

  13. Championships are a relevant metric in the sense that it means the Crew are beating the best teams available to them (Atlanta/Orlando/Cincy/LAFC was a heck of a playoff gauntlet). As a die hard Buckeye, OSU football is not doing that. Women's hockey is actually a good shout, they deserve recognition.

  14. I was in my house, in Northern Michigan, watching on my phone because I don't have FS1 - but thanks to folks on this sub, I learned you can use incognito mode to watch in the browser, and just close after the free 60 min preview, open again, voila!

  15. You would think being consistently competitive wouldn't be that much to ask for if he wins a cup, but he made the playoffs once in 4 seasons. And anytime the team failed or drew/lost in the final minutes of a game, his explanation was "We were the better team, it just didn't fall our way".

  16. Columbus Crew fan living in Indy. I was hoping MLS would expand here, but not at the expense of Eleven. There's got to be a better way!

  17. How real is this? There hasn't been too much MLS expansion talks going on, but surely the mayor has had to have SOME talk going on to publicly state this?

  18. MLS has still been pitching Vegas/Phoenix/Sacramento/Detroit as possible future teams, so it's definitely not out of the question if Indy has a good bid

  19. Are there any teams that are at risk of moving? It looks like there are already 30 teams and our geographic region seems pretty packed already. I’ll admit i know less about mls than other sports, but from my uneducated perspective, this seems like something that is not likely to actually happen.

  20. Most MLS teams are performing pretty well, and the few teams that aren't are in markets you would expect a sports league would want to be in (Chicago, Denver, San Jose/Bay Area). So if it's relocation on the table, I could see a "market refresh" where they relocate one of those teams and re-expand in that city, similar to what they did for LAFC.

  21. Currently living in Indy. Would never turn on the Crew, but this would be a fun upgrade to the Eleven!

  22. Again, most of us are fine with Eleven going away for an MLS side! There really aren’t many Eleven fans except a few die hards — I’m one of them!

  23. And I can understand that, but this isn't the first time MLS has leapfrogged an existing team to take over a market. When teams like Orlando/Cincy/Nashville made the jump it was pretty exciting. When teams like the Loyal and now potentially Eleven are left for dead it's gut wrenching, and leads to a bad precedent of happening in any popular USL market.

  24. Monon Community Center in Carmel is pretty great for lap swimming. They occasionally have classes that take up some lanes, but there's always lanes dedicated for lap swimming

  25. I'm running out of walls to run through for this man! I can't state it enough how blessed the Crew is to have him at the helm right now

  26. Knowing the context of this gif, seeing his head follow the insane shot, and seeing his reaction in real time makes this so much better.

  27. He had a massive flub against Tigres last round... and you wouldn't know it today. He just moves on. Great quality for a keeper.

  28. You wouldn't know it the rest of that game against Tigres. He and the rest of the team shook it off, got back in the mindset, and played the rest of the game incredibly well

  29. Dunno why everyone is so hard on the kid. Name a better striker whose 3rd on the depth chart at any MLS club

  30. First Crew game I watched. Y'all got a great team there. I'm impressed

  31. Nancy has brought some real excitement to this team. Definitely a good time to be a Crew fan!

  32. You paid $99 for an unlimited season pass with free parking and no blackout dates at Cedar Point. Compare that to what you spend at Universal.

  33. Yeah it's really not the dollar amount on the locker that's the problem here. Storage lockers are a luxury for the rides where you are allowed to bring things. Requiring that riders don't have loose articles is very understandable for this type of ride, forcing people to pay to store things that literally everyone is going to have on them in the park is incredibly frustrating because now they're just nickel and diming you. They're essentially charging you $1-3 per ride, something that should be calculated into their cost of admission.

  34. Cmon.   A “luxury” price?   Admission at CP is dirt cheap.  If you pay more than 35-45 to get in on any given day then you’re doing it wrong.

  35. Yes, entertainment is a luxury. There are ways that locals can make it a cheap adventure (Gold pass, bring your own food, don't buy any souvenirs), but the reality is most of their money comes from non-locals who saved up for a vacation.

  36. Brandon Vazquez take my energy. Fulfill your destiny.

  37. If his destiny is getting bounced by the Crew, I'm for it. Otherwise I'm gonna keep my usual standards of cheering for Vasquez.

  38. For reference, here’s the schedule of events for the NBA all star game in Indianapolis earlier this year. Lots of things that are fun for fans of all ages that aren’t strictly basketball related.

  39. And look at that, a concert during the NBA all-star weekend

  40. Before I moved to Columbus for college, I only attended occasional and random games. I was at this game and had no idea there would be a concert, and it was awesome. I also was at the game where Eddie Gavin played goalie after Will Hesmer broke his collar bone.

  41. NFL stadiums are the problem, especially soldier field.

  42. In fairness, they did have an SSS and struggled with attendance in the same way. Granted, it was in Bridgeview and not Chicago proper. A proper SSS in downtown Chicago would certainly help, but it's only part of the problem. Soldier Field is at least in downtown.

  43. Thank you! I’m in Columbus so anything close to here would be great. Appreciate the tips!

  44. No problem! Deer Creek Olympic (Jun 2) may be the best option then, they also have a duathlon and aqua bike if you're interested in doing one of those for training. It's ~40 minutes away from Columbus.

  45. Any specific region of Ohio you're looking for? May is pretty thin (one in Dayton), early June has a few options across the state.

  46. Bias aside, I do think Michigan's engineering programs are better. However, I don't think it's so much better than Ohio State that you're going to lose out on job opportunities in the future.

  47. The statement explicitly says that the problem is the amount of time they have to implement it, not the lockers themselves.

  48. I could absolutely be misinterpreting it, but have they said they plan on having them in the future elsewhere? Because these safety outlines read to me that "we weren't planning on this policy and can't implement it with how it's laid out."
