  1. Yeah, where are you guys finding such cheap CO2 exchanges? When I go to my nearest welding/gas supply company, they charge me well over $50 for a 20# tank exchange. They won't refill.

  2. Not sure how much fluctuation is there in this cost across the US. I am in a VHCOL area and I use a local soda fountain installation and service place. I would be a bit concerned using something like welding supplies place because I don’t know CO2 standard for food vs non food, if this even exists.

  3. its $30 now, just did it last week. But its only once in 2-3 years so it’s not that bad

  4. Currently paying $50/month for 800 mbps with Xfinity in Sunnyvale. The prices quoted seem outrageous.

  5. I am not there anymore but have great memories about this one:

  6. Fraunhofer Institute exists exactly for this reason. You may want to look at their open positions. The Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology specifically is in Germany (Aachen) but there is a sister facility in FL.

  7. I don’t understand your setup. Seems like you have a source you know everything about (radiance), an object, and a camera (lens +sensor) that is also known. Textbook radiometry. Bidirectional reflectance function of the object (BRDF) will help you find the exitance (reflected radiance), and camera equation (google it) will take you from radiance at entrance pupil to irradiance at focal plane.

  8. I lived in 2B/2B in Park Place above the Starbucks on Castro for 3 years and it was great. Central AC, garage parking with assigned spots.

  9. I bought at Toyota Sunnyvale at MSRP 2 months ago. Was told they don’t do markups.

  10. To start with, look through COTS doublets from Thorlabs, Edmund etc.,. The lens models are available for download, so you can take a good look at the performance achievable. These usually suffice unless you are looking for better colour correction and/or larger field of view.

  11. I am testing an extremely well-corrected lens at infinite conjugate. My lens focal length is ~7 mm, the FOV is ~90 degrees full angle diagonal, chart distance is ~30 cm. I do have a working solution, my question is more about the theoretical approach to determine the ideal relay lens specifications.

  12. Sorry, I couldn't still understand the role of relay lenses in your test setup.

  13. I testing the MTF of the DUT at infinite conjugate. For this I need to take a picture of a test pattern printed on a test chart with the DUT and analyze it. Since I have neither infinite space not infinitely large test chart I have to relay an image of a finite-sized test chart at finite distance from DUT to infinity. This is what the relay lens is for.

  14. It can be the first step of a backdoor Roth conversion. Otherwise, no.

  15. Why not contribute directly to Roth? Whats the benefit of going through the conversion?

  16. depending on the sign convention, most of the times object distance and magnification are negative but talked about in positive numbers.

  17. I think people the previous responses are from are very experienced and have a good understanding of what it takes to get from system specifications to manufacturable design. If that is your goal you can certainly try doing it with Matlab. It is the equivalent of trying to build your own supercomputer because you have access to a soldering iron.

  18. It not the eye, its the brain. Helmoltz himself famously said that he would return the eye if received as an optical instrument. And that is more than 100 years ago. The aberrations in the eye are awful, almost any lens made within the last 150 years can easily do better.

  19. I am 12.5 D on the Brannock device and happily wear 11 D AEs. I also wear 13.5 in most Nike’s. It’s important to know the size, but feel is king. Sizing is inconsistent, dress shows typically run large, at least for me - 12.5 D AEs feel like a pair of skis.

  20. Read the spec sheet of a typical DMD being used in projectors and you will find the NA recommendation there. You don’t always want to match the illumination to the collection because DMDs are crazy inefficient. Depending on your design you may want to take that into consideration.

  21. Analitycal solution may not have much value for this specific application. I suggest creating a look-up table for wavelength as a function of position. Make is a part of the initial instrument calibration.

  22. I agree - if you have some supplies then its all good. I am a broke ass student who has zero space to store packaging to reuse it later this way I get a super nice well-designed box that lets me ship my device worry free for free. And its delivered to my dorm. For free.

  23. These specific boxes are designed to ship phones/laptops. I have never seen the phone one s anywhere but the laptop ones are $15 at a Fedex store - I saw it yesterday.

  24. Thanks! I’ve read through the other posts but there was some mixed answers about the sno parks due to “no camping” signs and whether those mean no tent camping or no sleeping in cars. So just thought I would post again to see if anyone has found anything out about that.

  25. "Overnight parking, including in-vehicle camping is allowed except where noted or signed at SNO-PARK sites. Tent camping or sleeping outside a vehicle in the parking area is prohibited at all SNO-PARK sites"

  26. You gotta install your own cameras.

  27. holy shit! I watch dogs occasionally and my rates are below $50 for daycare/overnight. I have not left a dog alone for longer than 2 hours and even that was with owners permission. I think i need to up my prices.

  28. Could you tell me what’s the name of this paracord braid so I could google how to make it? Thank you!

  29. Unless you are running intervals you can run marathons and it will not help you in the ring. You want your body to develop resistance to explosive high intensity loads like you have in an actual fight. Steady running is great for training your cardiovascular system and this is why boxers run, but by itself it is not going to prepare you for boxing fights - thats what combat conditioning is for.
