  1. I would say firstly if your serious about opening up a bar, you would have your own concept idea

  2. I'm wanting to find out what bars in Melbourne people like for a little inspiration and because I haven't shared what I like I'm a troll? Okay mate no problems

  3. If you’re going to open a bar then you are going to have to have a very clear idea of the area you’re business is operating in and the kind of people you’re targeting. It’s all well and good to try and recreate Naked for Satan in somewhere like Elwood, until you realise that your key clients will be locals who are looking for something more akin to beer, wine and food.

  4. I'm well aware of the need for a wholesome approach to concept and strategy in this venture, but I still believe in doing my homework by visiting bars in person for inspiration. This inspiration could come from a small detail, like the unique design of booths or clever use of space. I'm not aiming to replicate any particular place I'm just looking to compile a list of venues people enjoy visiting. With over 20 years of working for myself in both successful and unsuccessful businesses, my focus isn't on advice for running a bar but rather on discovering which places people like and why. Hopefully that's now clear enough 👍
