It could be your PC running out of memory, but I don't know what specs you are working on. If you want to make sure, you can right click on the bar on the bottom of the screen and toggle System Memory, Video Memory, etc.
I have enough epic shinies that I just want to fill out the starter dex more than get more unnecessary shinies.
