Melee is definitely in a strange spot, I always rationalized it by thinking it had no upkeep cost once you acquired the weapon but with scythe costing like 1k per swing, kind of invalidates that. Like the benefit was not paying for bolts/darts/runes but slightly lower dps.
On top of scythes upkeep, you use 3x bloodfury charges per swing on large foe xD melees saving grace used to be strong armor to makeup for not safespotting, but when every newer boss shreds through defense it reduces armour to just dps gear and punishes you for not safespotting with mage or range.
Actually i think youre right. As a main its difficult to justify spending money on those weapons when i have a tent whip that venoms, it feels like wasting money on a cosmetic upgrade. They could use a buff.
Does the magic accuracy bonus from the shadow work for actual spells too? Like should I be casting freeze with the shadow equipped or bring an ancient scepter switch?
The shadow accuracy boost doesnt work for any spell except the built in. It did as a glitch on release and was insanely op. Scepter would be better for freeze
Nah you could get 6h logged doing bandos prior to shadow. It's significantly worse, but the trips are still eternal. That's with sang, ancy, and arcane though.
Mithril to rune may be magical but its ranked below granite armor, a 50 cal would destroy granite. You can fire bronze bolts at mithril with a strong enough crossbow and it'll shred.
Tome of water should buff tridents. Sea and swamp are water spells after all. Maybe sang as blood can be considered like water?

If it's anything like last league, accuracy is a non-issue because everything gets like 300% accuracy.
The combat relics say otherwise, mage gets 175%, range 100%, melee only like 50%

Elder maul, scythe, and soulreaper are really the only 2Hs in the game that currently deserve to be viable outside of solely special attacks.
