  1. The public has turned on you all. Only your members, family, and friends support your greedy cause. Everyone is struggling to pay bills and put food on the table. But not everyone is using the publics children as bargaining chips. SHAME. Everyone is struggling with inflation. Everyone is having to work more than one job to get by. Stop holding the children hostage. You have now lost the publics sympathy. CUPE is now being seen for what it is- toxic. EAs and janitors have high school education and are paid accordingly- sorry not sorry. EAs start at $24/h, very livable with a second job princessssss. Time to get off the high horse and come on back down to REALITY. Fire them all. Stop sabotaging the children and PRETENDING it’s for them, it’s disgusting. Completely sick. Enough is enough. The kids are NOT being put first. Prove it by having them in school Monday and stop threatening them, only CUPE keeps threatening the children. You cannot bargain with someone holding a gun to your head. CUPE is a disgrace, and THEY are the bullies. They applied for these jobs and knew the pay- correct? SHAME. Bill 28. Fire them all.

  2. That’s 12% per year, that’s an insane amount to ask for. All other unions would also be looking at this to base their next negotiations on, both parties need to be reasonable and meet in the middle

  3. Im not staying at home with your seven year old, but I am staying at home with my own :)

  4. Good to know you can do that with a smile. I can’t. Neither can my best friend who is a full time social worker at a major hospital who has two Children under 10 and is a single mom.

  5. The strike is only 1 day, right? Like there's no plans to extend this into next week?

  6. Nope union said”indefinitely until a better contract is reached” Buckle up.

  7. “We want more money!!!! Fuck the kids and what happens to them and all that they’ve already been through”. That’s all I hear. EVERYONE is struggling. News flash: Everyone is having a hard time putting food on the table and putting gas in the car and paying rent. So many people I know have to work 2 or more jobs just to get by- yes it is HARD right now. But not everyone is holding our kids hostage. And this is coming from a parent who actually understands the importance of these workers and knows we need them. Do I feel they should get paid a bit more? Yes- I feel most of out here should. Come at me with “how can we get that without going on strike??” I don’t have that answer for you. But shutting down the schools and turning your back on the KIDS? THE KIDS? Get the fuck outta here. Again, WE are ALL struggling out here. They aren’t the only ones using “food banks”. Can’t and won’t get on board with this shit. Nope. They’ve been through enough, and THEY matter more to me, the kids, they do. Full stop.

  8. Thank you for this response. I sympathize with your frustrations, and I hope it gets easier for you and your children as time goes

  9. Thank you I appreciate that, and the interesting information you provided about the CUPE president’s salary. I too have zero response when I post in other forums or have my posts removed. Thanks again.

  12. That screenshot doesn’t do it justice. It’s worse.

  13. This is exactly what the kids needs, more disruptions at school. Why would anyone go to school for a profession they dont like the pay.

  14. I sounded just like you once….but there’s way more to it I get it now.

  15. Yes. There are massive safety implications, especially when it comes to the number of behavioural and violent kids who EAs manage.

  16. This right here is the main point that should be screamed from the rooftops. No one gets it. No one understands this. It’s the number one concern I have as a parent of a grade 2 student where there is a violent kid in the class.

  17. A legal threat letter would straighten this out fairly quickly. Yes, it is cheaper to brush you off than to deal with the issue. It is not cheaper to be forced to defend a losing position in a lawsuit and potentially get an adverse ruling which could impact them for years down the road.

  18. Definitely. I think he needs more than 1 EA as he already apparently has one. But where’s the funding for that right. So what’s the solution then? Im at a loss here. I think there needs to be alternative separate schools specifically designed for these kids aimed at their needs? I don’t know.

  19. This isn't a dicipline problem (not at the school at least) its a resource managment problem. Agressive and/or violent students do have a right to education but they need support staff to keep themselves and others safe. Your school should be providing a EA trained to deal with him.

  20. There is a kid in my sons grade 2 class who is out of control. He recently was made to “apologize” to my son for slapping him in the face for no reason. The following day he smashed a bunch of glass pots in the hallway and was screaming at everyone. This past Friday he hit another student and pulled her hair out. On open house night I spoke to my sons teacher and was advised this student is known to have serious problems and that I should call the school about it. I did. I spoke to the principal and expressed my concern that he physically assaulted my son, and other students. She said he has a right to education and there’s nothing they can do. What are my options??

  21. There are specific behaviours that qualify a student for expulsion, and physical assault is in there. I think you need admin w the best interests of staff and students in mind, and they are rare. My experience has been that the admin bend over backwards to accommodate the kid and keep them in school, regardless the trail of victims.

  23. All these people always whining about defunding the police. I would like to watch from my city and see your city actually follow through. I’ll get my popcorn out…and watch it all go to shit. And when you need help and pick up the phone to call for it….ain’t nobody coming.

  24. I wanted to put it out there, she was my least favourite to watch. Her commentary and tone always felt very forced, and fake. She just didn’t appeal to me, and didn’t seem likeable- nothing to do with race.

  25. Make them and the TEACHERS an ESSENTIAL service like I AM in healthcare and they can shut the fuck up and get their asses to work. Work two jobs if you have to like the rest of society. Btw, I also work march break, Easter, Thanks giving, through the whole summer and Christmas/ New Years. And if I hear it’s for the kids or they care about the kids one for time…don’t use my fuking kid as a bargaining chip

  27. He didn’t care that child killer Terri Lynne McClintic was sent to a “healing lodge”. RIP Tori Stafford.

  28. Mine personally is turning canada into a haven for dirty kidney around the globe.

  29. It’s a sad day….just hit up a different location on the way to an appointment- grabbed a boring ass bagel…it’s been settled, honey mustard has been replaced with habanero sauce. Why god why…in other news chipotle sauce is still available. Did I mention how many times my smile cookie had no eyes the other week? At least it had the smile

  30. My child will be the one who suffers unfortunately… he’s in grade 2 and has already missed too much school. His reading and writing is behind. I laugh when I hear they “care about the kids”. Enjoy your March break summer vacation Christmas off. Guess he’s a bargaining chip eh
