AEW Dynamite last night on TBS (8-10pm): 990,000 viewers P18-49 rating: 0.34 #9 cable original in P18-49

This hits me right in the feels

*Lowers face into palm*

Well, are you?

The process of taking a painful L

When laughter meets percussion

I don't need it, I don't even necessarily want it, but I've got some cash to burn so I'm gonna get it.

Staring into the abyss and it's staring right back

Call an ambulance, I'm laughing too hard.

I'm not mad, I'm just disappointed.

Innocent laughter

Shower them with laughs

Losing value fast.

  1. I do think there is a place for matches themselves to be the story. Two wrestlers trying to win.

  2. I think it’s pretty obvious that ROH isn’t going to get a TV deal until the next TV negotiations start between AEW and WBD. It will be part of those talks.

  3. I’m not sure how I feel about Freddie tweeting about contracts and offers. I think it might actually work. I get the vibe that he’s like a tiny khan that actually knows what he’s doing.

  4. Huh? I hope Freddie can get this promotion up and running, but what does that last line even mean?

  5. Yeah, but khan is running it into the ground by being a putz. I think Freddie has a better mind for it. The more wrestling the better brother!

  6. Ah yes, that regularly no. 1 cable show that just did a million dollar gate. In the mud, clearly.

  7. Someone with a big loyal following and one of the most recognisable women wrestlers in the world, someone who literally had a Hollywood movie made about her.

  8. Is it one skewer going all the way through his mouth? Or two separate skewers stuck in both cheeks to give the illusion of one?

  9. Yeah, William easily could be given a big role backstage and take the reigns and call them out on their bs backstage and it would all be great.

  10. Regal has said that he doesn't want a managerial type role. He's enjoying just being on screen talent.

  11. Seriously, I have less of an issue with this if it's literally Sammy Guevara just being a dick, vs. it being a worked shoot thing.

  12. There is no reason for this to be a worked shoot. Andrade and Sammy are both heels and are not feuding with each other. It makes no sense.

  13. serious non trolling question, has Cage had a good match in AEW other than the Hangman one? That's the only one i see ever brought up when it comes to him

  14. The one that came to mind immediately was his match against Matt Sydal.

  15. Hey Tony, give Julia Hart a squash match on Dynamite this week, so the TV audience can see her recent character development. Thanks!

  16. Then why watch wrestling? If I didn't like matches and love the physical storytelling over the verbal stuff, I'd watch like any other fully scripted TV show instead.

  17. Yeah, it's an odd one. If you don't actually like wrestling matches but want stories, pro-wrestling seems such an odd form of entertainment to watch. It ain't Better Call Saul or The Sopranos over here.

  18. 50% of wrestling is the stories and promos which leads to a big match. It’s like saying let’s skip all the movies that led to End Game and just go straight to big fight.

  19. That’s not really the point I’m arguing though. I was replying to the “not a big fan of wrestling matches.”

  20. Dave seems to be confusing himself by trying to work out why upcoming ticket sales are down and coming up with convoluted reasons, when the most likely is the most simple — AEW keeps running the same areas, multiple times a year, eventually you’re gonna tap out the market.

  21. Long-term story that’s more based in reality. May sound corny but more like a soap opera, like the whole Jey vs. Roman and Jey vs. Sami stuff

  22. Thanks because I missed that entire story. I started watching basically at the end of Hangman’s run.

  23. When will this show be available to watch?

  24. Why would I wanna watch old Bandido matches just to see how he wrestles so I can just watch him lose to Jericho or whoever he’s booked against? I prefer the scavenger hunt down the rabbit hole. Better build. Better payoff in the Bandido vs White Rabbit race but that’s just me. No knock on Bandido. Dude has an excellent skill set.

  25. Yeah but White Rabbit ultimately ends in having to watch Bray wrestle. So, swings and roundabouts.

  26. If Jericho just bought him a purple Kangol instead of a bucket hat everything would be fine.

  27. It just kills the vibe. You get to the front of the bar, looking forward to getting some drinks down you, but then you see the price and it's deflating.

  28. I paid £6 for two cans of diet coke! After that, just went to the vending machine and stocked up.

  29. Only compared to that mammoth number last week. It'll probably still end up around 2.1-2.2 when the final number comes. And I'm sure hurricane coverage will have taken some effect as it has done across the board throughout the week.

  30. For some extra context (I was at the show), Dax chuckled after it. It wasn’t like he was cutting a pissed off shoot promo or anything.

  31. I have no evidence what so ever to back this up, but you can't help wonder if there wasn't some friction between FTR and Tony over the Punk drama. Punk and FTR seemed to be really close. Maybe they have been off TV almost as a 'punishment' or something.

  32. They haven’t been off TV though, just not in tag matches. But they were recently in a backstage segment with the Ass Boys and Dax wrestled Claudio.

  33. By the drop in the opening segment, the AEW audience really likes wrestling matches

  34. Yeah I mean nobody is sounding the alarms but the trend is what it is.

  35. I've been following these threads from the start and if you read all of them, one would think AEW fans are the most fickle fans ever who abandon ship the second absolutely anything else is going on.

  36. They didn’t really abandon though, did they? They got a number that usually lands them the No 1 spot.
