Lil Stuck A Battery Up My Ass

Shows the Silver Award... and that's it.

Thank you stranger. Shows the award.

When you come across a feel-good thing.

A glowing commendation for all to see

  1. I have never received cards or plushies or anything like that when I had surgery. I'd sometimes get chocolate. Or visits. Or calls and text.

  2. Sleeping, watching movies/ shows, Meeting with friends, my Harry Potter bookclub, going to talks/ events

  3. btw I dont wanna sound rude, but why is a carpet covering the entire room so popular in USA? It just seems so impractical. What if you spill something do you have to pay for damage if the stain wont come off?

  4. It used to be popular in the 80s over here in Germany too. I remember that I spent some time in those apartments as a kid in the 90s. For us kids it was great. Running around barefoot and kneeling on the carpet.

  5. Hm, the commenter doesn't appear unreasonable to me. They clearly don't follow that belief themselves, but are concerned for brides that happen to live in cultures where they take this super super super seriously.

  6. I have a 14 ft horse trailer FULL of crap from my last move that I still have to sort through. The ONLY reason I hesitate in just dumping it all is because I have yet to find my lockbox. The one with all of my important papers in it. Otherwise, I don't even know what's in there. (I had covid, so my husband and adult kid did most of the work) I don't miss anything. I told my husband if it's still there in February 2023, take it and dump it.

  7. Oh, that's the worst. Knowing there is something in there that you really need or want, but it's covered in too much stuff.

  11. On the current project (moving into family home to live with Dad after Mom died), my real starting point was my bathroom. This just sort of happened (since my stuff I was moving in wasn't the issue, it was already minimal and there still wasn't space for it -- cue trash bags!). But I generally like bathrooms as a starting point for a number of reasons:

  12. Additionally: Most things in the bathroom are actually consumables and easy to replace. And there is rarely anything particularly sentimental in there.

  13. I decluttered first whatever I was most passionate/interested in going through first! For example, I was so fed up with myself keeping old, nasty, half-used, half-dried art supplies I kept telling myself I'll "get around to using up" but 10 years later, it's all still there. Once I got rid of that, I went onto the next thing that was my second most bothersome item type! With passion and interest leading the way, it kept my motivation going and soon I was going to the next thing, then the next. 1,700+ items decluttered and several months later, I'm still going! :D

  14. I have a big checklist, but that's just for overview of all the things that need to be done. I usually choose whatever I like to do, not do it in that order.

  15. Did ONE person gift you the six scarf and hat sets? Because if so, that's just...wow. Almost like a punishment instead of a gift in how overbearing it is. I'm guessing you live somewhere cold, but still! You should give yourself extra credit for working to declutter, when you have to both fight an uphill battle with what comes into the house and work through your people-pleasing tendencies. That's a lot!

  16. Yes, even if you'd love hats and scarfs, there is no way you'd need 6 additional to those you already have!

  17. As far as I know, there are different kinds of professional cleaners. Some do toss everything, some do sell or donate before tossing the rest.

  18. Can you attend the bus when you're in company? That might be a solution for that, treat it like a special social event with friends that you can do every now and then.

  19. There are a "theory" called the spoon theory. It created by a person with a chronic illness. The spoon symbol the energy to you need for do a task. A person with chronic pain can't do common domestic clean like a "normal" person.

  20. It is not meant to be applicable for other diagnosis. It's an oversimplification to explain fatigue to someone who doesn't experience it.

  21. I don't know why that post is here. Yes, it's an odd spoon, but that's it.

  22. All you can do is to offer help and ressources/ tips for when she wants to declutter. And insist on a free bed if you sleep there and a free chair and table if you eat there.

  23. And don't start on your own. My mum is super good at "decluttering" my stuff, but when she attempted to throw some art away that I recently purchased, but was still in an envelope and therefore not identifiable, I went and "decluttered" in her bathroom. (I deliberately chose something with items that are all replaceable and not sentimental at all)

  24. The trick is to tell things that you like to have and would buy anyway or request consumables.

  25. 50.000 $. Because no-one would notice the additional 2 inches in height anyway.

  26. It is okay to leave it in storage for a while. You don't have to do it immediately. Settle down, maybe sort out whether you want to stay there or not. Start with the easy stuff. The one you never liked. Maybe even stuff that doesn't really have to do with your ex-husband, but is exclusively yours. When your back at your mum's, you can also start with your childhood things and then start bringing stuff over from storage to the new space at your mum's place.

  27. That shouldn't happen and you should call your doctor.

  28. Oh, I feel you. I've been trying to find a box in a certain size and failed.

  29. Keep what works, dump what doesn't work. And only one device for one purpose.

  30. Planking, Owling and all of those obscure trends where people were just laying or sitting around.

  31. I was relieved, because it meant that I will get better.

  32. I'd post it in a fb group to give away for free and when it's not gone within 3 days, I'd throw it away.

  33. That's the thing. They don't actually want something wrong with them, they want the attention that tends to come with being "different" from the norm.

  34. I don't think, she's a DID faker. What she describes is actually not uncommon in chronic illness. You have symptoms, you have pain and the doctors just don't find anything. "Normal" test results aren't good news when you're in pain.

  35. My brother had that problem soon after getting out of the hospital. Thankfully he's strong enough now, but I am mystified at how many bathroom doors are heavy as fuck.

  36. I managed to be trapped in my regular high school bathroom when I broke my leg and had to use crutches. I could open the door, but then I had no way of getting out, because by the time, I grabbed the crutches, the (heavy) door was already closed again. It took me about 10 tries to get out of there. (swung the door open as wide as possible, grab the crutch and just stick it into the gap). And I was already 16 at that point, a younger person certainly would have been trapped for longer.
