Yeah they're dark brown but he's also dead and he's also hanging upside down which would cause the eye to roll up in the skull from the angle showing more of that white. I also went with a desaturated brown because he's dead just to show the haze of death...either way it's just different artistic interpretation my friend! Thank you for the cc!

And you will just put your mind to it and practice and don't sweat the small stuff I've only been painting for about a year and a half and if I can do it so can you! I'm my own worst critic I over analyze my work I can't tell you how many repaints I do! And some advice you'll get cc some constructive some good choose what you think merits your attention but don't let someone make you feel like you need to repaint something you've already done! I've been there and done that and though it helped me understand more I could have applied it to the next model down the line! I look forward to more of your work!

Ooh I love that yellow highlight colour, it gives it a nice sickly warmth. Did you underpaint with purple and that blue/teal colour?

It’s more that deer eyes are almost all black with little white vs mainly white
