You're entirely wrong about every advantage you mentioned about a pump shotgun, but go off. Pump shotguns do over-pen with buckshot or slugs, they keep a tight fist-sized spread in home defense ranges, and they are more unwieldy in close quarters than a handgun. Racking a round in my AR-15 sounds distinct as well, the difference here is I have 30 rounds at semi-auto down a stairwell at likely 4-5 rnds a second to hit my target, where as with a pump shotgun I'd have 12 rounds max and have to jerk my gun off between each one.
If itâs a typical break in, just firing off one shot of anything without even hitting anyone is enough to make the vast, vast majority of intruders flee. As far as âstopping powerâ goes, it only matters in situations where youâre truly fighting for your life and itâs either you or them whose going to potentially get killed. Well, unless youâre absolutely dead-set on shooting any intruders.

My problem with this proposal is the age dictation and that applies to alcohol and smokes too. If youâre an adult at 18, you should be able to purchase these things. If the government deems 18 y/o not responsible enough for make these purchases, then they should not have to pay taxes, be allowed to vote, or join the military. If 25 is the new adult age so be it, but no more double standards.
