  1. Most vintage and modern PTs have coil splits with same (or really similar) pickups without any type of magic resistors in there so I think you'll be good. Kinda surprised that model doesn't have splits since they lean into that so heavily on other models.

  2. That's horrible. Tried to sand down a Gibson style but for a Fender slot. I don't even know where to begin. It's like the tech had never actually worked on guitars before....oh, Guitar Center.

  3. I gotta ask, if you got a custom shop schecter, why'd you go with their strat copy? its like going to get a custom PRS and getting a silver sky. I have no doubt that it's a great guitar, though. not to mention it does look great.

  4. The first Malmsteen model strat was a Schecter. The PT (a Tele copy) was named after Pete Townsend bc his guitars were Schecters. They started out as a Fender replacement parts house IIRC.

  5. right on, but that doesnt really answer the question. and for some reason im getting downvoted for not getting why someone would get something thats been done like 5000000 times over as a custom guitar

  6. Gotcha now, so many other options from Schecter. I'm partial to the Spitfire and Ultra but they are very heavy

  7. Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Antonin Scalia were best of friends yet no one questions her ideology. (Or his). Truth is they are in a small club and none of them probably have completely aligned political beliefs. I have friends that are 180 degrees from me politically. You should try it sometime.

  8. It's the second amendment, that's the amendment right after the amendment that acknowledged your the right to freely ask this question in a public forum.

  9. Those are the cheapest H slot covers avail. That's Chinese cheap garbage, Fleor, Muslady, Musiclily, or some such trash. That said, some cheap pickups can sound good.

  10. Uh...that's not how this works. Lemon oil to moisten the rag you use to wipe gunk off fretboard is enough to oil the board. If you drench it like that you're going to have frets pop up.

  11. Same issue on my PT FB IIB. Fixed by installing a Switchcraft toggle. PT Pro probably uses the same import switch mine did. Schecter needs to up their game on components like this. It's a critical part. I love their stuff but not when a 2 year old guitar has a switch crapping out.

  12. All but the Chinese "SGR" branded ones tend to be pretty good guitars but price and condition you'll need to look at...

  13. That's where the bender contacts the rod. Literally how they are made FFS...

  14. Surprised Schecter didn't catch that but I had a few minor things when my retailer had my PT FB IIB drop shipped in 2020. I planned on mods anyway. Nice PT!

  15. Exactly why I never recommend tremolo guitars to new players....tell me this is trolling

  16. I love them too and The Cure but poor Robert always looks like he's going to drop dedd. I know some of it is the persona so someone tell me he's doing well these days (?) .. I was looking at the Schecter Spitfire bc it shares some of the same styling and has USA CS pickups...

  17. Kid could make a fortune here where the old brick boxes are crumbling.

  18. Just good construction on cables, "oxygen free" is just a marketing gimmick. The Reverb brand of cables with free shipping have served us well in this house of 3 guitarists. D'Addario or Snark for clip tuners, and picks are kinda expensive for what they are but that really preference. There isnt a cheaper option for Tortex picks but there some people probably like the cheaper picks so you just have to try them. Start with some Fender thin and mediums, pretty budget friendly. If you sweat a lot you'll need something textured

  19. In late 2019 I received a PT FBIIB drop shipped from Schecter that wasn't packed with cardboard between strings and fretboard and it came with some imprints of the wound strings in the frets. I really really wanted it and this was when there there was zero inventory to be had so I ended up polishing the gouges out myself. 1mm of bridge misalignment seems within spec since wood expands and contracts more than that between different climates and that can be easily accounted for with intonation. NOW IF this creates string misalignment on the fretboard that can't be adjusted out by loosening the neck screws and moving the neck then retightening then you should return it. That would make it a "blem" or "2nd" and not backstock where it wasn't advertised correctly.

  20. So this is an interesting topic since I had the outstanding stereo rotary effect that was in the Nux Mod Core Deluxe before the MG-30. They included a less versatile version in the 30. They did put a full version of the Nux Duo Time delay pedal in it but the tape echo is a dumbed down version. Hoping in a future firmware update they'll add the full Tape Echo pedal to it. I've heard the MG-30 is already pushing the limits of it's native DSP so they'd have to reduce redundancies to add more functionality I'd guess.

  21. Went from MX5 to the MG-30 for the PC Editor. Really enjoying it but miss the multiple amp chain thing that the MX5 had a bit. I like the modeling better on the MG-30 though.

  22. Buttons (footswitches) are not assignable to specific patches. Best way to do this is to re-order the patches using the PC Editor..

  23. Problem is that the cheap ones come with the Floyd Rose "Special" which has notoriously poorly wearing knife edges from cheap steel baseplates and/or poor heat treatment. The more these sharp edges wear, the less it stays in tune, or "returns to zero". The ones to looks for are the Pro, 1000 series, and Schaller Floyd Rose. Even one of the better ones can be ruined by someone adjusting the action height with full string tension on the bridge, which dulls the edges and gouges the bridge pins that the tremolo hinges on. I saw an entry level Kirk Hammett LTD guitar that had the "special" on it so it's a cost cutting measure for even some low-mid grade guitars.

  24. Beginners tend to have guitars with poorly dressed bridge saddles, poorly cut nut , and they usually have poor restringing technique, all which contribute to premature string breakage. Drag tip of a toothpick across the saddles and nut slots to see how rough they are and have it addressed before putting a good set of strings back on. It's not rocket science. Watch Phil McKnight's Sharpen my Axe vids on YT to learn how to do this. Also change strings every couple weeks if you're playing a lot. Just inexpensive nickel wound Ernie Ball or D'Addario multi-pack strings from Amazon.

  26. Police helicopters doing a missing man formation for some sort of memorial. That's what it looks like when when they're standing by for a flyover. They disappeared when they did the flyover.

  27. Now replace the bridge with a Schaller Floyd, Pro or 1000 series. The "Special" is known to have "less good" metal or the heat treatment isn't top notch so the knife edges apparently end up like well worn butter knives if you actually Satch the stick with any regularity. I just blocked the Floyd on my Hellraiser Extreme. Sweet guitar and great pickups. The guys at EMG have helped me out on a couple of occasions on different issues.
