Be sure to listen to demos of them, bobeats on youtube has a great video on them, I personally went with the east beast because I wanted a good modular bass with a built in sequencer( it has a lot packed in for the value). Great thing about them is that they are modular so if you end up expanding your collection it can grow along with it. Hope you find something you like!!

It is a midi cable with a 5 pin midi male on one end and trs jack on the other
I believe they were referring to a series of little switches on the back of the device that determine the channel. usually 4 little white switches just toggle them tell it starts working. this was the issue i had when i went to use the midi from my poly D to my wasp. It all works just fine now. Hope this helped!! It also may be a clock issue and you'd need to look up how to sync the clocks on them to work together, though I haven't had any experience with that myself.
They are both on midi channel 2. I set the midi clock on the volca to auto and it is plugged in. Still not working unfortunately, might be the cable?

You mean the one that sounds like a clavinet? I think tone is just a single saw wave with heavy use of the filter envelope, and maybe a little resonance. I guess I could make a sample pack, but I wasn’t planning to.
Still pretty new to all of this myself so I roughly know what your saying but if it helps I'm referring to the 1:08 time marker on the video. So if it's something that should easily be replicated through other means then i wouldn't want to trouble you with unnecessary work. I wasn't sure it was a sound from some specific hardware you were using.

Just wanted to comment in support of the Wasp such a fun synth! I'm still new so sorry i can't be of help with recommendations, but I hope you get what you're looking for!!
I don't have mine yet (ordered through sweetwater and got a great deal on it), but it will be here Tuesday and I am so stoked! I personally have always been a fan of Behringer, especially the way their bass tones are expressed (not sure how to convey what I truly mean but that's the jist). As far as product quality goes i personally have never had issue with Behringer products. If you want I can refer you to the sales rep that helped me out with mine if you end up wanting to get one, that is of course unless you already have one picked out else where. :) If you end up getting one we should compare notes in the future on our experiences with it.

Youtube university. If you want to really learn fundamentals I suggest picking a synth VST and learning the basics of sound design. I watch guys on YouTube all the time that can recreate any sound in seconds from scratch. I say start with the basic shapes, sine, saw, square and learn how they each sound and how you manipulate with ASDR, envelopes and LFOs.
Any particular channels you would recommend that cover these basics well? I'm just starting out, so I am here looking for and compiling resources for my studies.
