/r/WorldNews Live Thread: Russian Invasion of Ukraine Day 3, Part 4 (Thread #33)

  1. I read that international intelligence knows something about Putin that the rest of us don’t and it’s very worrisome. My guess is he’s dying of some illness and wants to go out with a bang.

  2. Anyone think Putin might be showing some signs of dementia? Sudden irrational statements about "drug addicts and neo-nazis" are not inconsistent with that.

  3. Apparently some people think Stolichnaya is not Russian: " Since the dissolution of the Soviet Union the ownership of Stolichnaya has been disputed between the Russian state-owned company FKP Soyuzplodoimport and SPI Group, a private company founded and owned by Russian billionaire Yuri Shefler." buy something better anyway

  4. ⚠️ Update: Some connectivity has returned to #Ukraine internet backbone provider GigaTrans but service remains intermittent at present.

  5. If the Russians are taking this many losses try to take Ukraine, how many losses do you think they'll have to take to try and occupy it?

  6. I was made aware that somebody on a Russia video made a hilarious comment and i feel like i need to share it to spread some dark humor here.

  7. So the Russians invade a sovereign European nation, literally what people have been fearing for 40 years, and the whole world is just going to stand by and say meh about it?

  8. Putin definitely miscalculated this one. Even former Soviet states who are closely allied with him say this attack on Ukraine is not justified.

  9. Russia threatened that Ukraine will use a dirty bomb at the UN. What they are really doing is planning to use a dirty bomb as a false flag.

  10. He just encouraged the ukranians to go against other ukranians for being drug addicts and neo nazis (watched on cnn)

  11. Mental health is important, y’all. So while you sit here today refreshing reddit and watching the news, remember to take a break and go for a walk outside, get some fresh air, and talk to friends and family.

  12. While Ukrainians are motivated by protecting everyone and everything they love, I wonder if the main thing motivating most of the Russians is just their fear of what might happen to them if they disobey orders.

  13. Let's be honest at the end of the day the role of a president is mostly a figure head. He truest his government to fake over if he falls. But staying and fighting is his most important role.

  14. Curious how that works since Russia never signed the treaty? Cluster bombs are clearly nasty weapons but how do you apply that law when they say it’s not illegal.

  15. Using cluster munitions is t a war crime. Ukraine, USA and Russia have not signed the pact not to use them, as with many other countries (although a large number have signed)

  16. I think we can all agree. Zelensky needs giant statues built around the world when this shit is done, die or survive.

  17. I’m seeing some nice similarities between this and Vietnam. Vietnam was originally an French colony like how Ukraine used to be a Russian puppet. Popular homegrown government comes to power, oppressor is not happy. This is Vietnam but less justified

  18. I hope when all is said and done, Putin is forced to stuff Legos in his socks and walk around in them for the rest of his life.

  19. More nukes is a moot point. Both the US and Russia could level the entire world if they wanted. 100% land coverage does the same as 400% or 4000%. Once one fires we're all dead.

  20. No country will send troops, the whole world watching how Ukraine dies, what if Russia invade Poland and threaten nuke again next?what a wonderful world

  21. Because anyone else who replaces him will do sound thing of taking all the $$ from them and giving it back to Russian people and economy.

  22. I don't understand how so many people are saying Russia has lost when they are firing munitions in the capital of the country they invaded, and still control ground there.
