[Kleinman] NFL suspensions: Deshaun Watson: 11 games, $5 million fine - 24 sexual misconduct lawsuits. Ridley: Indefinite - Bet for his team to win Burfict: 12 games - Targeting Hopkins: 6 games - PED Martavis: Indefinite - Weed Josh Gordon: 76 games - Weed

  1. Exactly. Just proved that he was right not to take the initial offer. They built it up like "you should've taken the first offer because now we're gonna drop the hammer!" and then they still walked it back for him.

  2. I knew it was 8 games. 1,207 before Magna Carta. As if I could ever make such a mistake. Never. Never! I just – I just couldn't prove it. He – he covered his tracks, he got that idiot at the Twitter to lie for him. You think this is something? You think this is bad? This? This chicanery? He's done worse. That massage parlor! Are you telling me that a towel just happens to fall like that? No! He orchestrated it! Deshaun! He was on the Bill O'Brian Texans! And I saved him! And I shouldn't have. I took him into my own fantasy league! What was I thinking? He'll never change. He'll never change! Ever since he was 9, always the same! Couldn't keep his hands off of the women! But not our Deshaun! Couldn't be precious Deshaun! Sexually assaulting them blind! And he gets to be a NFL quarterback!? What a sick joke! I should've stopped him when I had the chance! And you – you have to stop him! You

  3. 0.5 games for every woman he assaulted who decided it was worth it to come out publicly against him.

  4. I was starting to get bored/sick of the booing every year, but I'm definitely never stopping now. Fuck this decision. Better than 6 games, but it's so obviously revenue-oriented and shows how little Goddell cares.

  5. It’s mind boggling. Actually shocking. I haven’t seen something feel like more of a consensus amongst fans in NFL history and they still don’t get it

  6. They know that the return game against the Texans is going to be ratings gold. The home crowd is going to absolutely skewer him and everyone is going to want to tune into watch. They just WWE'd this shit, it's an absolute fucking joke.

  7. Hmmm I wonder why they picked such an odd number like 11. Fuck the NFL. All they care about is the storylines and the money. Women be damned per the NFL.

  8. NFL: Deshaun Watson is a deplorable human being and we strongly condemn his actions. 6 games is not nearly enough punishment for the atrocious violations he has committed. It laughs in the face of Justice.

  9. Well no one would have watched that game if he was suspended. This probably just multiplied the amount of viewers that game by 10 fold.

  10. They really set this up so his first game back would be against Houston. I can’t believe it. I refuse to tune in, but I hope I see you guys crush him on the highlights!

  11. Didn’t he already reject a settlement larger than this? At this point couldn’t they do whatever they wanted in terms of the appeal? What possible incentive did they have to give him this settlement?

  12. They wanted to settle so that this could be the ultimate ending. A prime time showdown with eyeballs on the screens. That’s what the NFL sells.

  13. Sincere question: I am personally convinced he did this and should be in prison, but since nothing has been proven how can the league suspend him at all?

  14. A moral failure yes. But the nfl has never been about morals. It’s all about cash and in that regard they are an absolute success

  15. Part of me is like the NFL will want to keep that at 1PM game because they know the crowd is going to chant "No Means No" the entire game and that looks bad for them...

  16. Well, I’ll be withholding my dollars and attention from every Browns game until he’s no longer the QB.

  17. I would still trust Angel Hernandez over Roger Goodell. At least Hernandez is unintentionally moronic, Goodell is intentionally nefarious. A fucking joke

  18. Bill Burr had a joke about how whenever one of the players commits some heinous crime, they come out with a commercial telling the public what not to do. it's like "why are you telling us?! We didn't do this. You did! Tell yourselves that!"

  19. Yeah the Josh Gordon comparisons in these cases are really taken out of context. The NFL had a very defined Marijuana policy in place at the time where the number of games suspended was by the number of times you tested positive, sort of like a three strikes rule.

  20. It honestly should have been a lifetime ban for TWENTY FOUR cases of sexual assault. I never expected the NFL to do a full ban and a full year suspension at least would have made a show of trying to punish the guy, but not even a full season is a fucking joke. Roger might as well go up to every woman who's ever cared about football and personally say to their face "Watson and the money he generates me is more important than women. We don't care about you."

  21. Wow I thought he'd get a full season which I figured would be a) the absolute bare minimum and b) still not enough. The NFL sucks so bad at league discipline.

  22. Yeah, I’m a man, but the most important people in my life are women. Already decided if Watson played at all this year that I won’t be watching a second of football. All the “leaks” about wanting an indefinite suspension with a minimum of a year and this is what he gets?

  23. Getting this disciplinary process for a serial sex offender right was their absolute last chance. Like, it was so fucking easy.

  24. I'm a man and a Panthers fan and I've been feeling this way since it came out the Panthers were talking about trading for him. I was really hoping the NFL would make this right. I don't know if I'm watching this season.

  25. 100% same here, only I'm just going to pirate streams and never give the NFL another cent on my money. This is absolutely disgusting.

  26. There’s never going to be any change as long as people keep watching besides all the atrocities this league let’s players get away with. Doesn’t matter if you even support a team on the other side of the country, it still fuels them. But people would rather cry out about how terrible of a decision it is, and go back to watching every Sunday. What a joke for most of peoples “morals”

  27. Yep, I'm right there with you. This is the last straw for me. Last year I quit my fantasy league. This year I'm just done altogether. Funny, I was planning to get the new madden this year. Oh well, money back in my pocket.

  28. Same here. I definitely won't be watching this year. It's been a good run, NFL, but I'm hoping and praying for the complete annihilation of your business. May you never sell another ticket, jersey, subscription, or merch of any kind. And Deshaun Watson, if you're guilty of even a tenth of what you're accused of, I hope you get it back 20 times over. Disgusting men, disgusting league, disgusting everything. Fuck the NFL.

  29. Let this be a lesson to the youth of America! Become an NFL player and you can literally be the biggest piece of shit to anyone you wish. Don’t do anything you’re good at for free, even assault!

  30. This is the league officially condoning sexual assault. Bending over backwards to make sure Watson doesn’t suffer any real financial repercussions here AFTER releasing a statement calling him a sexual predator guilty of sexual assault is them saying that it’s not a big deal.

  31. You can still buy gear, just buy the quality knock offs and stream the content through NFL services you can really BITE into!

  32. So if this is accurate his first game back would be Week 13 AT HOUSTON??? That wasn't thought through all the way.

  33. To benefit a breast cancer foundation considered to be among the dirtiest charities around in terms of how much money goes to the 'cause'

  34. I'm honestly shocked. What leverage did Watson even have for the NFL to even negotiate with him.

  35. Why did Watson get to settle with the league, like how do you get in the position to negotiate your punishment after sexually assaulting 20+ people

  36. Because the NFL wants him on the field, man. The NFL is a freaking TV show and they want the show's villain in as many episodes as possible this season. They don't give a shitting shit about anything else than what will get people's eye on the screen and people will hate-watch Browns games from here on out.

  37. Is the 11 games on purpose so he can play 6 games this year and it counts towards a full season for his salary? I thought I read someone has to play 6 games for it to count.

  38. I’ve never wanted a player to be so horrifically mauled on every snap than Watson. I pray your knees collapse just before a DT hits you.

  39. You realize the NFL wasn't taking a moral stand about gambling right? It's a clear conflict of interest for NFL players to be allowed to bet on NFL games.

  40. Looks like I’ll be illegally streaming every game and not purchasing any NFL related products. Fuck Goodell.

  41. Cowards for not doing at least a year. Downvote me idc. Hope he blows his acl out and the browns never see the playoffs again.

  42. Man, they really fucking blew this. They had a chance to set a real precedent after repeated blunders and they found a way to fuck it again. Not sure why I ever thought they’d learn.

  43. This is fucking bullshit. Never going to watch the Browns or Watson so long as he's playing. Toying with the idea of just boycotting this season all together.

  44. NGL, there was a part of me that wondered if Goodell was actually going to get cheered at the draft this year. I'm deeply ashamed that thought existed.

  45. This is the final straw for me. I slowly stopped following football over the last few years because the product has gotten worse, but the leagues continued amoral behavior is enough for me to stop lurking and cut it out entirely. Total disgrace.

  46. LMFAO. I feel like such an idiot. Time and time again the NFL does stupid shit. For some reason my dumbass thought they were going to get this right. Damn. Fuck I’m stupid

  47. I will be cheering on career ending / life altering injury for Watson every single game he plays and with so much passion.

  48. I think Burfict’s suspension was a lifetime achievement award of dishonor for all the crap he did before. He never adjusted his game, he just went out and purposely hurt people without a shred of remorse. Ridley’s suspension is bogus as is the marajuana stuff. Watson deserves a full year in my opinion.

  49. Only Goodell could get a suspension that's too short in a situation where he can decide the suspension. Just replace him with a monkey drawing bingo numbers for the number of suspended games and you'd have a more logical and consistent suspension policy.

  50. Should have given him over a year to punish the browns too for how they structured his contract knowing all this was happening.
