Defying the odds!

  1. Now go back to the doctors and show em your moves! Tell them they have a 0% chance of telling you a damn thing!

  2. My grandmother owned a bar in California. One day a bad customer started a fight, threw her into a brick wall and through a window.

  3. When they tell you that you have a 1% chance of success, take that as the drive to make it a 100% success. YOU decide when it's over, no-one else can.

  4. I had to relearn to walk after c spine fractures/TBI from skating/brain surgery, that shit is a bitch. But fuck the feeling of walking again is worth every second.

  5. Not fake but not OP on Reddit. I went to high school with this dude. Didn’t really know him as he was a few years older than me. Awful story though from what I remember. He used to play soccer for the school and was pretty good too until one night after a party he got hit by a drunk driver who happened to be another kid at my school. The kid who hit him ended up leaving the school not long after due to all the hate he received for driving drunk and dramatically changing the other kids life…basically almost killing him. Happened in CO.

  6. Not everything is fake. OBVIOUSLY, there's been thousands of hours of physio, rehab and practice that got him to this level of movement. No one thinks he just got up one day and started walking. Jfc

  7. Barring that this is the crap we people with mobility aids are constantly scrutinised for, also consider that someone wouldn’t buy a several grand mobility chair for internet clout?..

  8. I have a relative with very little motor control below the knee. I recognize the walk. The ankles are dangling a bit and he has to step on his toes because he can’t lift his toes up to step in his heel. Definitely not fake or he would have to be an actor who carefully studied this type of walk. Lots of PT but the slow nerve regrowth has not reached his feet yet.

  9. You’ll find that most people on wheelchairs can actually walk, with difficulty. The wheelchair is to help with their mobility because walking can be dangerous and/or not sustainable for more than a few steps. Only few people on wheelchairs are actually fully paralysed.

  10. I think it's fake too! He's not dragging his toes, his shoes look heavy for a person in that position, they also look loose on his feet, he doesn't use his upper body to help him stand or sit and he kicks he's feet up when he sits. I also don't buy his mannerisms

  11. Well done bro, thanks for posting! That sets one more solid example not to give up, when anyone of us feels about to lose hope. Keep it up!!!

  12. If your will is to walk and you're determine to do it then you will. I remember Rene Descartes statement "I think, therefore I am". Be persistent and never underestimate yourself. Congratulations, dude!

  13. This is heartwarming and depressing at the same time. It’s very clear that homeboys parents are LOOOOADES because no way in hell would any form of American health insurance ever do this for someone. This is just a reminder that for every one of these guys there are a hundred others who will never get the same opportunity

  14. Wow inspiring shows what u put ur mind to is possible also when the game winning percent says 99% likely to win if it’s not 100% all we need is a chance

  15. Might have had 1 % to ever walk again, but gained a 99% chance to be a bad ass mf if you pulled it off. well done.

  16. It wasn’t nine years ago but I was nine years old when the doctors told my mom and down that I wouldn’t be able to walk. Because my brain left Cerebellum burst and I will have to learn all of that again but I learned it and more stuff to Full recovery. Keep on grinding you will get better screw what them doctors tell you. They are not the end all be all ; they’re just making an educated “guess” which is a I think answer

  17. He has so muscle in his legs. Usually a person that hasn't used them in years will have really thin legs. I'm happy for him.

  18. On top of overcoming the odds, he is still somehow, in better shape than me who has not been in a wheelchair the last 9 years. Congratulations on your remarkable recovery.

  19. Heart warming!! All the best for your Future!! Beside all the shit we all need to see in the world, this was wonderful!!

  20. Good job! You must have worked so hard to make this happen. We want updates so we can see some more awesome achievements from you.

  21. I feel like occasionally, they lower the chances in order to put that fire in some, and raise the chance for those that might feel defeated. Either way, that's awesome.

  22. I went to high school with this dude. Didn’t really know him as he was a few years older than me. Awful story though from what I remember.
