Music scene in KC. Which artist do you want to see come to our city?

  1. Sylvan Esso, Pinegrove (that hopefully won't be canceled), The Mountain Goats, Watchhouse (formerly Mandolin Orange) to name a few!

  2. This times a million. Just saw them in Portland Maine last month and traveling to Denver to see them next month. They’ve been on two separate North American tours over the past year and no KC.

  3. Yes! More House music. Honey Dijon, Derrick Carter, Rimarkable, Todd Terry, The Shapeshifters, Mark Farina, Frankie Knuckles, Joey Negro (David Lee)

  4. The Darcy’s, Caroline Rose, Janelle Monae (like come back!!), Mac Ayres, Poolside (do they tour?), Pinegrove, River, The Weeknd, Kim Petras, Marc Rebillet, SZA

  5. Poolside opened for someone at Grinders a few years back but they kept moving the show up because of the weather. Ended up going on a few hours early at 5 or 5:30 and only played three or so songs. It was disappointing.

  6. Sylvan Esso, Four Tet, Kevin Morby (local!), Khruangbin, Vulfpeck, Big Thief, PawPaw Rod, Dijon, Free Nationals, Okay Kaya, Peggy Gou, Yaeji

  7. I no longer live in KC, but I would have died happy seeing a lot of these in my time there. The cure came twice and I had to work both times. To wish impossible things!

  8. This so much. Metal tours completely skip us and it’s infuriating. Wichita has way more metal shows than KC and Lawrence combined. It’s fucking embarrassing.

  9. More post punk and noise rock bands. Like Pissed Jeans, Young Windows, Whores, Torche, Mutoid Man, Big Business, Bars of Gold. However the hard part is that the medium sized venues that bands like this might play in KC are becoming non existent. We need more venues the size of the Brick, Davey’s and the Bottleneck in KC.

  10. Booking and promoting is a MASSIVE fucking problem in the metro and it's gotten worse over the last few years, especially with the BUZZ going down the shitter. There is also more competition with Des Moines, OKC, and even STL building new venues and/or having festivals. KC needs to step up its game

  11. Billy Strings, please!! Jam bands in general (Sts9, moe, umphreys, disco biscuits, widespread panic, string cheese incident). For DJs/electronic - zhu, antennae, dirtwire, claude vonstroke, ott. Khraungbin. My morning jacket. Ron Gallo. Mostly it would be nice to have some variety besides the same handful of acts that get booked over and over and over here. I feel like as of late, many tours are skipping over kansas city and very little booking effort is being made. Thank you for asking!

  12. Cheeeeese and tribe! Totally agree. Caught antwnnae and dirtwire this past summer at Rekinection festival. Would love to see them drop in KC for a show

  13. The Jesus and Mary Chain. It would be nice to not have to travel to see them every single tour. EINSTÜRZENDE NEUBAUTEN, The Damned, Bjork, Protomartyr, Shame, Fontaines DC, Viagra Boys, Cold Cave, Actors, Television.

  14. So many bands I'd like to see. That said, I'm excited about Violent Femmes performing with KC Symphony.

  15. Wage War is on tour with Three Days Grace. Saw them two weeks ago in Wichita. TDG will be here on September 1st but no word on if Wage War is with them.

  16. Kaleo has played at least 3 times in the past 6 years if not more. Modest mouse comes every tour and will be here in like 2 weeks.

  17. Witch, King Tuff, The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Ozark Valley Underground, Fletcher C. Johnson, Ty Segall

  18. Something that Kansas City needs is a few larger capacity venues. Feels like we’re limited to the Truman, Midland, and Uptown. We need stuff that’s slightly larger than them to attract attention, as well as a few smaller venues.

  19. T-Mobile Arena (formerly the Sprint Center) does a lot of shows. Seen some out at Arrowhead and Billy Joel was at The K (Kauffman Stadium).

  20. There’s been a bunch of rap shows at independence events center lately. It’s probably a good mid between Midland and Sprint Center

  21. Only if there’s a time machine to make it 2006 again. STL gets the better jam shows. Would love to see JRAD at the crossroads during the summer but it won’t happen.

  22. I was really bummed when Angels and Airwaves didn’t come to KC on their last tour. Kamelot is another band I’d love to see

  23. more electronic shows! saw rezz and subtronics a few months ago which was awesome, but I haven't seen tycho come by for a few years

  24. Just saw them in Denver…great show. Meant to hit the St. Louis show too but wasn’t in the cards. KC I would have given a pinky toe for

  25. The Ship does salsa night with Dj Luis once a month at least, you should look up their calendar. Always super fun!

  26. I was so bummed that NIN never rescheduled their two night stop at Uptown that was cancelled because of Covid. Saw them at Sprint Center last time they were here, and several other times. Great show.

  27. Another one that would be more for an older crowd at something like the Uptown... Cyndi Lauper. Most of the times I've seen her has been at theaters... she's still very popular.

  28. She was there about 5 years ago. Had a ticket for it then went to leave my house and couldn't find it. I assume it got mixed up in some trash and inadvertently was thrown away. Thought I'd come across it when I moved a year and a half later but nope, the ticket was never found.

  29. more emo shit. they seem to always skip out on kc lately. sometimes they’ll go to lawrence but its quite the drive on a weeknight

  30. Holy Holy. They are an awesome rock band that unfortunately has not come to the United States. I would love to see them here.

  31. I kind of understand why bands don't tour through KC after reading these comments. The major thing that's popping up is people listing bands who've recently been here. maybe its less about a wider range and actually about promoting what you currently have. if you promote them, they will come.

  32. Shakira. Juanes. Maluma. J Balvin. Carlos Vives. Fonseca. Daoi Freyr. Eivor. Loudain Swain. Danny Elfman. Maneskin.
