Recently (in India at least) they have waived the interview stage, and thus I was actually worried that I wont have a chance to explain that I mentioned the temp address because that's where I had been staying and that's where the postal mail is possible to receive. Of course, I'd hope that the discrepancy doesn't leap out in their consideration at all.
Not Indian but I applied for US visa while living in a different country, with the foreign address, and no one cared.
