There was a thread on another platform where someone suggested that they wanted to patent putting a windmill on an EV so that it could recoup energy. Lots of "free" energy and similar ideas out there.
The amount of energy passing through your suspension can be estimated by how hot it gets. Short of off-road racing, I doubt anyone's shocks get very hot in normal usage. How many miles of potholes do you think it would take to offset the added weight of this system?
We should make steering wheels generate electricity, we could do that by making them harder to turn!

Would only be worthwhile for cars driven on Missouri roads.
Unlikely worth the complexity to use as shock absorbers.
