Whisper in my opinion just looks too good to put an ornament on it. Maybe it's just because I love the taken aesthetic, but I have all the ornaments and never run them.
Honestly I wish bungie would just give it like a 5% damage buff so that the risk is a bit more worth it. ATM it’s just got problems with being valid for total damage, but just not worth it with the amount of difficulty for hitting consistent crits with a sniper that gets crazy flinch
Once I put the red string of date on my malfeasance, Ive never taken it off. My pve kill count would be NUTTY on it if that had a tracker/catalyst for it
The ornament makes it look amazing too, completely changes it's shape and texture but in a good way. It's my favorite exotic right now, fun for volatile builds (like grav lance but with more steps)
Lubrae's Ruin... It looks like something ancient and evil that you would see in Lord of The Rings, I mean it must be the oldest weapon if we disregard time travel shenanigans, and it is the weapon that probably has the most kills in history, the design is alien and brutal and reflects the nature of the weapon very well.
As a Hunter, the Sunshot has to be my favorite. I don’t really have any AoE beyond a grenade and the sunshot makes it practical to deal with bunched up enemies unless I want to waste my ult or jump in wildly swinging the glaive lol
I raise you the whip crack that accompanies Chaperone’s reload animation, and the tune that plays when you max out Cranial Spike on Dead Man’s Tale. God I love Tex Mech guns
I spent an entire day crafting a build around it because it looks so cool that I really wanted to use it even though it’s not great on its own. The damage from its perk makes it pretty hard to use in higher tier content and the need to keep the trigger held down means it’s easy to lose the damage buff. But with Actium War Rig and some nifty mods it absolutely shreds. It’s now my main loadout on my Titan.
Wish-ender is in my opinion one of the best looking weapons in the game. The thing looks like it's made of marble, and it's huge. It's not like the legendary bows in the game, it's a proper longbow, large enough to have this beautiful relief sculpture carved into its frame. You can see the centuries of hand-crafted Awoken culture and heraldry in its design. It's dignified, and proud-looking. Can you imagine how much force it would take to draw a bow like that, and how terrifying it would have looked in the hands of someone like Sjur Eido? It looks the part, like the weapon of a classical hero, something capable of slaying Ahamkara. It's something you can only find in a game like Destiny.
I kept scrolling and scrolling to find this ... Damn. It's so simply elegant. So... Elvin. I wish my favorite bow, Trinity Ghoul was this good looking.
In terms of design alone specials: I dig trace rifles especially Cold heart primary: Seventh serap revolver and Graviton lance Heavy: colony, anarchy, and Wisper
There are guides for getting spoils solo on YouTube. Also if you want to learn Vow I could Sherpa you. Raids are the funnest PvE experience imo, and once you do one or two it's not so scary anymore. I was like you too, I didn't do Leviathan for over a year after it came out.
Yooo, a rare specie has appeared! XD I love Bad Juju so much, ppl can say it's bad all they want, they just can't see past the "big damage numbers/short ttk". And the design? Absolute gem.
Kinetic: For The King(Thorn) and Outbreak Perfected (base) Energy: Equinox(Ruinous Effigy) and For Wei(Erinana's) Heavy: Roar of the Wyrm(Whisper), Xeno(base), and Timeline Zero (Worldline)
It's a toss-up between Bastion, Mythoclast, and Thunderlord. On one hand, a weapon crafted by Saint-14 in his style; the other, a Vex weapon that fits a Guardian's hands; the other, a simple frame overcharged with power.
Outbreak perfected has a certain ornament that makes it look more infected and I love that. Based on regular design alone, I like how mina looks. Quite pretty
Might be in the minority but sturm because of the steam punk vibes and Tommy's matchbook because it is basically a hive looking Tommy gun to replay all my gangsta mafia needs
My favorite design probably has to be Wavespiltter. It was the very first (non-Riskrunner) Exotic I ever got, so nostalgia, and I also like how simple its design is. Don't get me wrong, the big fucking rifles loaded to the gills with attachments are super cool and intimidating, but there's something about a gun just being itself without any added frills that always appeals to me.
I think all the hand cannons are neat but that’s biased because hand cannons are my favorite weapons. Outside of hand cannons; Black talon, Whisper, Multi tool
Fabian Strategy, the Titan exotic in D1. I absolutely loved that weapon. I am really hoping for the inclusion of class specific exotics in D2. In D1 class specific exotics had a certain charm to them. They added a bit more pride to being a member of your chosen subclass.
Malfeasance, specifically the Aim to Misbehave ornament. I love the twisting, not fully put together barrel while it’s wreathed in the sickly, starry energy of the Taken. If we aren’t counting ornaments though, I really like the Graviton Lance. Don’t have much reason for it other than I like the design as a whole, it feels like a gun that shoots mini black holes.
Thorn. From its D1 release when it was not worth the grindy quest for, to its prominence in the D1 crucible post buff, to its current state of viability in D2 PvE and PvP...I've always loved the look and feel of it. First weapon in Destiny with DoT. I mean the thing shoots literal Thorn/spike bullets and has some intense lore as well. Capable of permanently killing guardians, nuff said.
For me, it's a toss up between Thorn, Parasite, Red Death, and Deathbringer. They all look amazing, perform well im combat, and their lore is cool. Thorn especially
Cerberus +1. Looks exactly like what a gun that's been jerry-rigged to life would look like. Throw in a stock, action, a couple of barrels and tie them all together with some hose clamps then hook a tactical nuke core to it with some wire and Bob's your uncle. Screams DIY, doesn't it?
Sturm all the way, I forget which one it is but I love the ornament that is more simplistic, it has a matching one for the Mida Multi tool, I just forgot what it's called
Base malfeasance, the laconic last word ornament, both lumina and it's ornament, base Monte Carlo and the western front ornament, and both base tommy's matchbook and it's ornament, I just love all of these designs that I can't choose one
Solar Revolver. The Exotic one, not the super. I like it because it heats up when constantly fired and cools down when stopped firing. I find it a subtle but cool detail.
Prolly Ace of Spades. It just looks so clean and smooth. Plus it was caydes and I’m a hunter main that has all his stuff except his ship so of course I love it
Stock look: Leviathans Breath, so chunky and purpose built Ornament look: Ultraviolet Borealis, I just really like it Sound: Gravaton Lance, that one two rapid punch is so unique
thorn for design. sleeper is my favorite feeling exotic though. even when sleeper was garbage i still used it because they absolutely nailed the feel of it
I'm a fan of the Sunshot. The way they shaded the gun makes it look like the bullets are so hot that it's meting and misshaping the metal. I love the attention to detail
Borealis with the ornament is the cleanest looking gun I e ever seen, and the way the elements shine through the barrel is so satisfying, when we had barrier snipers, that thing fucking deleted grandmasters
I really like the look of parasite, it's just ridiculous to look at, and it makes me laugh every time I deal massive damage with a suicide bomber hive worm.
Easy, Malfeasance. Base skin is great, Red String is even better, Taken Skin is fun (not enough stuff has that Taken effect on it), there's the horrifyingly pink skin that's beautiful in it's audaciousness
1k, I love the design, the way it shoots, the lore, all of it.
Just needs a no self damage catalyst
What’s the lore of it?
I love the outbreak perfected. The gun is very menacing in design. The lore behind is great as well.
This and Sleeper Simulant have my favorite design in the game
If we are talking about all of Destiny throw in Touch of Malice too.
Yep. Part of the reason it’s just my favorite gun in the game overall. That is, until we get necrochasm back at some point (plz bung)
D1- touch of malice, just overall very unique and the orb in the middle was really cool, same with the lore
Whisper in my opinion just looks too good to put an ornament on it. Maybe it's just because I love the taken aesthetic, but I have all the ornaments and never run them.
I'm hoping to see a comeback for snipers. They've become almost (with some exceptions like Izanagis Burden.) useless in anything but PvP.
Honestly I wish bungie would just give it like a 5% damage buff so that the risk is a bit more worth it. ATM it’s just got problems with being valid for total damage, but just not worth it with the amount of difficulty for hitting consistent crits with a sniper that gets crazy flinch
Whisper of the worm is my pick. It has cool lore and in my opinion the best mission.
and one of the best sounding shots in the game too!
D1 whisper or D2? 🤔
Graviton Lance
110% agreed, ligit the only exotic I use, have like 10k pve kills with it
Dead Man's Tale. I am just a sucker for lever-action rifles
Been giving the DMT a run recently, honestly fucking amazing. I would love to see a legendary Tex rifle that's basically a varmint rifle haha
Witherhoard
Witherhoard looks like it'd break if i dropped it accidentally, but the design looks cursed as fuck-- in a good way.
Especially with hive rune ornament
Malfeasance with the pink mist ornament is very nice, but without ornaments, wavesplitter is my favorite
Ayyy, fellow Wavesplitter!
Once I put the red string of date on my malfeasance, Ive never taken it off. My pve kill count would be NUTTY on it if that had a tracker/catalyst for it
Vacuum tube ftw!
honestly, I really love the collective obligation.
Lubraes ruin should have been the raid exotic, you could have a cool dash attack and laser attack just like Rhulk uses
It feels very RPG-ish that we finally get to wield a boss’ weapon
Sunshot. Simple, easy to understand, devastatingly effective, and some great lore to boot.
As a Hunter, the Sunshot has to be my favorite. I don’t really have any AoE beyond a grenade and the sunshot makes it practical to deal with bunched up enemies unless I want to waste my ult or jump in wildly swinging the glaive lol
Visual design is good, but the firing sound is what really makes that gun a feast to fire.
Quark Star is easily in my top 5 best ornaments in the game. I wish I had it because it would seriously make me use the gun more
Purely design?
Best looking gun in the game, esp with the skyline ornament
Symmetry is a gorgeous weapon
Hawk moon is too clean and the “squaaa” on the final bullet is soooo good
I raise you the whip crack that accompanies Chaperone’s reload animation, and the tune that plays when you max out Cranial Spike on Dead Man’s Tale. God I love Tex Mech guns
I just adore the Austringer style skin Hawkmoon has, that was one of my favorite guns and it looks so damn good
The Worldshaper ornament for Izanagi's Burden. A Buster Sword as a sniper looks hard af.
Cannot disagree. Imagine you could use it as a heavy sword with extreme damage...
Kvhostov.

I miss the Kvhostov
Tommy's matchbook the gangsta look goes hard on it
And the bone texture is good on it too!
Was running it and lion rampant in Iron banner tonight, just sorta flying around spraying at people. Surprisingly effective
Thorn
Malfeasance. Just love the fact it was a project you and The Drifter worked on, leading to a sleek, black, tainted revolver that fires dark spikes.
Nebula ornament for graviton lance!
Sunshot or Riskrunner with the purple ornament
The riskrunner with the pink ornament goes hard
Monte Carlo it’s so simple looking for a golden age weapon with a bayonet that just makes it stand out like the little unicorn it is
Rat king the rat pack
Huckleberry and devils ruin
Osteo Striga!!!
Deathbringer
I like Ace of spades and TLW because they have the same design as other Hand canons from D1.
Divinity. It might be the only exotic with ornaments that I like the default look most. Though the ornaments are rather nice to look at
Forerunner
Jade rabbit. Simply elegant
I’m that way with the Multi-Tool. Two fine pieces of violence.
Mythoclast 4 sure
All about the osteo design
I love everything about Cloudstrike.
I love the absolute wide variety of answers here. Thats the best evidence of good design.
Really damn hard.
Plus Thorn fires actual thorns that you can see (when shooting at a wall for instance) so +1 for authenticity
+1 for Thorn, a weapon I use regardless of utility for style and lore reasons.
Fourth horseman, just Fourth horseman
Wish-ender is in my opinion one of the best looking weapons in the game. The thing looks like it's made of marble, and it's huge. It's not like the legendary bows in the game, it's a proper longbow, large enough to have this beautiful relief sculpture carved into its frame. I kept scrolling and scrolling to find this ... Damn. It's so simply elegant. So... Elvin. I wish my favorite bow, Trinity Ghoul was this good looking.
Fighting Lion.
1k and dmt are my favorite looking exotics. i also really like prometheus lense
What is 1k?
In terms of design alone specials: I dig trace rifles especially Cold heart primary: Seventh serap revolver and Graviton lance Heavy: colony, anarchy, and Wisper
Whisper of the Worm easily. I really like the look of Lubrae's Ruin as well
Call me basic but I love the look of DMT. I’m a sucker for western styled guns.
The Bolter
I don’t have it as I’m too scared of raids but the Anarchy is by far the best looking exotic imo!
There are guides for getting spoils solo on YouTube. Also if you want to learn Vow I could Sherpa you. Raids are the funnest PvE experience imo, and once you do one or two it's not so scary anymore. I was like you too, I didn't do Leviathan for over a year after it came out.
Crimson in the white ornament.
Telesto
The Black Armory exotics
I'm a simple man. My answer is Gjallarhorn. I really, really love Gjallarhorn
Do you play gambit per chance?
Base Lumina, such a elegant weapon.
Malfeasance. It looks like it came straight out of the ascendant plane.
Symmetry or Outbreak Perfected. Also love Thorn, Lumina and Malfeasance...
Deathbringer, feels heavy and evil like it should.
Vex Mythoclast is so sleek. I love it. No jagged edges, beautiful, curvy....
Maleficence
Bad Juju.... I also exclusively use that as my primary weapon
The sound of firing Ruinous is one of my favorites in the game
If we include ornaments, I love both of the ornaments for Ruinous Effigy.
Dead man’s tale or the last word.
It's a toss-up between Bastion, Mythoclast, and Thunderlord. On one hand, a weapon crafted by Saint-14 in his style; the other, a Vex weapon that fits a Guardian's hands; the other, a simple frame overcharged with power.
The sweet business, why? Because it's a mini gun Also Tommy's matchbook
despite the fact that exotic glaives kinda suck, I absolutely love their design.
And the chittering when you ready and reload it.
Outbreak perfected has a certain ornament that makes it look more infected and I love that. Based on regular design alone, I like how mina looks. Quite pretty
I love coldheart it's simple but effective
Lumina. Especially with Lucid Melody
Zhalo Supercell. Don't @ me
Colony
Base Lumina, such a elegant weapon.
1k with the one terrible scream ornament, i love how it makes a metallic sound too
Might be in the minority but sturm because of the steam punk vibes and Tommy's matchbook because it is basically a hive looking Tommy gun to replay all my gangsta mafia needs
My favorite design probably has to be Wavespiltter. It was the very first (non-Riskrunner) Exotic I ever got, so nostalgia, and I also like how simple its design is. Don't get me wrong, the big fucking rifles loaded to the gills with attachments are super cool and intimidating, but there's something about a gun just being itself without any added frills that always appeals to me.
d.a.r.c.i. and sleeper simulant
I think all the hand cannons are neat but that’s biased because hand cannons are my favorite weapons. Outside of hand cannons; Black talon, Whisper, Multi tool
Osteo Striga. The lore is incredible (not as good as thorns tho imo) and the look just screams sorrow
Hawkmoon.
Ruinous Effigy for sure. It's such a menacing looking gun with fun mechanics and I love the skin and all the ornaments.
I would say dead messenger
The Outbreak Perfected, Last Word, or DMT
Gjallarhorn and dead man’s tale. They look fancy.
Ima say Dead Man's Tale, but there are a lot of Exotic weapons that catch my attention for looking real nice. Sweet Business is another one.
Cloudstrike without contest
Mida Multitool.
Fabian Strategy, the Titan exotic in D1. I absolutely loved that weapon. I am really hoping for the inclusion of class specific exotics in D2. In D1 class specific exotics had a certain charm to them. They added a bit more pride to being a member of your chosen subclass.
Yeah I loved that weapon too. Here's hoping it returns.
Red death.
Cerberus+1 funny junk gun 😁
Space tommy gun
God I love the look of the Polaris Lance, so cool looking, my favorite catalyst too
Malfeasance, specifically the Aim to Misbehave ornament.
It's Fighting Lion for me
It plays between Devil's ruin and Enigma's Draw/Spoiler alert.
If you want a good looking glock, The Keening is also there.
Hmm... I actually don't know the answer to that.
Hawkmoon it’s so simple yet so perfect.
Traveler’s Choosen. Love the bits of light peaking through the cracks in the gun, and as u get more stacks of the buff they get brighter.
Cerberus. Such a cool concept. Wish it was a little better but can be really good
That gun was soooo cool to use before it was nerfed.. my favorite is worldline zero.
Solar Revolver. The Exotic one, not the super. I like it because it heats up when constantly fired and cools down when stopped firing. I find it a subtle but cool detail.
No Land Beyond.
Zhallo Supercell. Always thought of it as an electric Ak47
No land beyond. Next question.
Izi with the sword ornament. Without ornaments probably Whisper or Sleeper.
There’s a lot I like, but A Thousand Voices is my favorite.
On feathered wings hawkmoon. Patient zero outbreak perfected
Malfeasance. The Taken energy really makes that boi sexy af
Prolly Ace of Spades. It just looks so clean and smooth. Plus it was caydes and I’m a hunter main that has all his stuff except his ship so of course I love it
Witherhoard with hive skin,
Sweet bussines, simple but elegant
big iron
Dmt or chaperone, I'm a sucker for lever action
Easily whisper. Anything with taken design in this game looks incredible to me
Symmetry because of the mysterious nature of how tf the bullet gets to the chamber
I’m a sucker for the classic Halo Magnum design it’s iconic
Izanagi's burden. Particularly when it has the radiance from being charged. Coolest name, sleek design, amazing story, shiny effects, hella damage
Skyburner’s Oath. Call it a meme weapon, but it just looks and sounds menacing.
Gotta be Heir Apparent. I just stand there and spin the barrel even if I don't have any ammo in it just to hear the sound and watch the barrels spin.
Lumina, eyes, jade rabbit with the pink ornament
The First Curse.
Mythoclast by far
Crimson with the white ornament is a really beautiful looking gun.
Red death. I want it back so damn bad.
Stock look: Leviathans Breath, so chunky and purpose built Ornament look: Ultraviolet Borealis, I just really like it Sound: Gravaton Lance, that one two rapid punch is so unique
But the bone/skull leviathan ornament is pretty damn cool
Parasite.
thorn for design. sleeper is my favorite feeling exotic though. even when sleeper was garbage i still used it because they absolutely nailed the feel of it
I'm a fan of the Sunshot. The way they shaded the gun makes it look like the bullets are so hot that it's meting and misshaping the metal. I love the attention to detail
Acrius.
Witherhoard, I love everything about it.
Lonesome
Vex even tho get it drop in d2 outbreak thorn and osteo striga and finally whisper and sleeper
What’s the image gun?
Ruinous Effigy, amazing gun that is getting buffed next season along with all other trace rifles
D1's Hawkmoon ornaments are so badass. Also love Zhalo's look even tho I prefer the gameplay of Riskrunner
whisper
It’s got four barrels of ass-kickery and enough rust to make the titanic scared
The Vex probably
Borealis with the ornament is the cleanest looking gun I e ever seen, and the way the elements shine through the barrel is so satisfying, when we had barrier snipers, that thing fucking deleted grandmasters
Sunshot, especially with the Quark Star ornament. Gets redder the more rounds you fire, resetting when you reload. Such a cool ornament.
I'm tied between the Hawkmoon and Dead Man's Tale
Bad juju which i was never able to get from its quest and aint spending an exotic cipher on 😾
jade rabbit... Then maybe Deadman, or queen break
To use? Thorn
Izanagi's Burden is just special to me for no reason.
Definitely whisper, it just looks so mesmerizing.
Crimson, it looks like a fairly simple hand cannon, except with a bloody bayonet/knife. Same goes for the Monte Carlo.
I really like the look of parasite, it's just ridiculous to look at, and it makes me laugh every time I deal massive damage with a suicide bomber hive worm.
Graviton Lance. Just something about shooting bullet sized black holes brings warm feelings to my heart
Even though I never use it, Rat King is my favorite looking exotic. Did you know the front sight is a wedge of cheese?
Sleeper stimulant or outbreak perfected. They just look so perfect to me.
Has to be dead man's tale for me, no particular reason, I just think it looks cool.
Easy, Malfeasance. Base skin is great, Red String is even better, Taken Skin is fun (not enough stuff has that Taken effect on it), there's the horrifyingly pink skin that's beautiful in it's audaciousness
"In that cool evening air, as dusk was devoured by night, the noble man ceased to exist. In his place another stood.
