What do you think is the best release of the year so far?

  1. Raging Bull, The Last Waltz, or Tales of Hoffmann (Region A finally! I won’t get it for awhile, since I have the Region B version).

  2. I’m sooooooooo happy to be getting AaOL I may keel over and get stuffed in a window-seat. It’s been in my wish-pile so long, part of the cast hadn’t even died yet. And I love the whimsical Addams-vibe of the cover art. 🏆

  3. Celine and Julie Go Boating for sure. Jacques Rivette is one of the most underrated directors of all time imo. Juliet Berto is one of my favorite actresses, sadly taken too soon.

  4. Goodfellas looks so terrible on blu-ray and the reviews for the 4K have it as one of the worst transfers. WB loves to crank it out with little regard. I would love Goodfellas done properly by Criterion. Im reading the Made Men book by Glenn Kinney about the making of. very detailed account & high level.

  5. Being excited for Pink Flamingos is like choosing to see the Geek show at the carnival rather than heading to the Art Museum. If that is what you prefer for entertainment than fine by me - but let's just be realistic here.

  6. Pink Flamingos comes with a damn barf bag, come on that rules. The special features are fantastic, too. Double Indemnity and Raging Bull are also fantastic releases this year.

  7. I didn’t fully realize this until I watched raging Bull commentary on my bluray player, but that 4K transfer is incredible. Though after viewing the film a few times now, it is not one of my favorites.

  8. Worst Person in the World, probably will end up being Cure though depending on how good the restoration is.
