Green out here making solid points

  1. I'm like that tweet about "what Daemon crimes I will be defending today?", but with Alicent: what bullying towards Rhaenyra I will be defending today?

  2. I am so into her character after last episode. She's like Cersei if we actually got to see what made her like that. Definitely the only character to compete with Daemon for sheer "Aw yeah here we go" energy whenever she's on screen.

  3. It won't last. Brothers and sisters are natural enemies! Like the Faith and Targaryens. Or Dornish and Targaryens. Or Greyjoys and Targaryens. Or Targaryens and other Targaryens! Damn Targaryens, they ruined House Targaryen!

  4. The Hightowers are arguably there for that too, especially if the theory of them having a part to play with the OG faith militant are true.

  5. Yeah. But people really, really want to pick a side in a way that basically frames their side as fully justified and the other evil. Or you have people randomly picking and choosing what modern values they want to apply regardless of whether it makes in-universe sense.

  6. I just want to know two things. 1. How did bad leg Strong know about the “tea”. 2. Why did Alicent wholesale believe him, so you just believe whatever anyone tells you ? Duh !!!

  7. there’s a pretty popular theory from the books that he’s a warg since the strongs have the blood of the first men. they think he can warg into the rats in the castle and they keep showing rats during key moments which kind of backs this up

  8. How come she immediately jumped to "oh Rhaenyra must have lied". I mean the simplest answer is Viserys decide to be safe rather than sorry. And instead of trying to get clarity she just went to I hate Rhaenyra.

  9. I guess I am in the camp that likes both sides for different reasons? I don’t like Rhaenyra but The Blacks have the Starks and Greyjoys and Cregan and Dalton are both awesome. I’m not thrilled with Alicent or Aegon II but I think they’re slightly better than Rhaenyra, yet they have the best dragons.

  10. i keep warning my friends and family that are hyping daemon up to be this great guy like just wait…. babes please do not out there naming your kids daemon. just wait.

  11. Oh yeah, everyone being a Harwin Strong fan right after episode 6. Wonder how they'd react when they read the book and find out Rhaenyra and Harwin started their relationship because she ran into him on his way back from the brothel.

  12. I think they’re doing a good job showing how Alicent and Aegon will be driven to do harm out of fear for what might be done to strengthen a female claimant in a sexist society. Especially with Otto’s emphasis. How Aemond will get damaged by the hazing his society pushes to have done. And how Rhaenyra becomes bitchier and eventually monstrous due to these political issues created by Alicent’s machinations. The theme of all this being that good/potentially good people are turned into bad and ultimately near evil monsters by the politically cruel and sexist systems of Westerosi society.

  13. I think a lot of it goes back to pre-Green making the first dick move, with Otto getting Alicent to seduce the king, transparently trying to undercut Rhaenyra’s future.

  14. Aegon loses his mind. So does Rhaenrya to an extent. The blacks are more justified, sexism is a huge fuel for the greens. Daemon just makes it so that it isn't black and white like the Starks in ASOIAF.

  15. Yes but the way people go on about it if you aren’t totally rude or die for Camp Black that turns you into an automatic team green stan. There’s such tribalism on one side that any thoughtful discourse towards greens is aggressively rejected. So you can’t really have a discussion because all your time in the convo is spent trying to explain green motivations just to introduce some nuance.

  16. I think they’re doing a good job showing how Alicent and Aegon will be driven to do harm out of fear for what might be done to strengthen a female claimant in a sexist society. Especially with Otto’s emphasis. How Aemond will get damaged by the hazing his society pushes to have done. The theme of all this being that good/potentially good people are turned into bad and ultimately near evil monsters by the politically cruel and sexist systems of Westerosi society.

  17. I agree, I think the writers did a brilliant job of making the Greens looks bad in the most recent episode, and I imagine that before long we’ll see an episode where it’s quite the reverse and the Blacks looks terrible.

  18. Alicent is dumb for being 100% certain that Rhaenyra is going to kill her children once she comes into power just bc her shitty dad said that as he left her. It would be much easier to support Rhaenyra and make the royal family stronger

  19. But she would 100% order Aegon and his siblings to death. It’s common sense… you don’t leave threats to your reign in your court. Also, knowing the sort of shit Rhaenrya pulls later on, Alicent is 100% right.

  20. I agree with this take. I think they might have been able to ally if there hadn’t been the rumors about her children’s heritage.

  21. “I’m merely abiding by the precedent set by the Great Council of 101 AC that lead to my lord husband’s ascension!”

  22. Honestly I never understood why royalty wouldn’t be traced through the female line. At least the “royal blood” would be certain regardless of paternity.

  23. Same way they justified the incel Cole murdering an innocent gay dude. Daemon doesn't even pretend to be righteous which is why I like him.

  24. Aemond did ask him for a eye and said if u ran Hed go after him . lucerys should have cut out his eye and rold borros hed take all his daughters as wives per targyen custom .

  25. A religiously uptight prude gaslighting her son to seize his half-sister’s publicly declared birthright - when he doesn’t even want it - is making no points of note to me

  26. You’re not supposed to view it with 2022 glasses. Rhaenyra has a responsibility to carry on a bloodline with Laenor and she’s not, and is instead trying to pass off illegitimate kids to everyone.

  27. I guess I’m a prude too. Alicent is in the right here, rhaenyra is the family thot. Imagine the added insult of the family thot trying to offer her bastard son to wed your highborn, royal daughter.

  28. “I’m gonna reject the peace offer Rhaenyra gave because she’s a lying slut even though I’m concerned about the safety of my children.”

  29. If this were the truth that’d be nice. Rhaenyra’s kids seem immediately better than hers. And her ignoring her child’s deviancy to scream at him for not hating his own cousins isn’t raising an actual man. She could have easily met her goals by marrying her daughter to Rhaenyras. That’s not what she wants. She wants Rhaenyra to suffer.

  30. She's whining and crying and creating an issue where there doesn't have to be one and her kids will suffer for it so big win for her i guess

  31. That was 100% consensual, did you not see how he responded afterward? “Cuntstruck” is putting it lightly. He still has a grudge against her 10 years later because he’s a whiny child. He didn’t seem to care about honor when he was willing to run away with her

  32. Poster woman for internalized misogyny. She resents having to do her duty to family and realm while Rhaenyra openly sleeps with a man who is not her husband and gets away with it. She is pissed that the "slut" gets away with it and she feels like an unrecognized martyr

  33. Except she's not trying to raise a man she's trying to use Fear and the unknown to make him into a Usurper. She's the very thing that causes all her work to fail and what tears the realm apart.

  34. I need to see the prophecies fulfilled, There is no more satisfying ending to a story than being told exactly what is going to happen, and then for it to happen exactly as described in the prophecy. So exciting.

  35. Succession laws of the realm were settled at the Great Council. If Viserys II and Rhaenyra don’t like it they can try to impose their will the other way.

  36. The Great Council wasn't codified into law, so it can only be considered at most a precedent. A precedent that can have many interpretations, in this case some see it as "no women or their line" and others see it as "the heir can be appointed, even if it differs from andal tradition".

  37. Fuck Alicent fuck alicent fuck alicent fuck alicent fuck alicent fuck alicent fuck alicent fuck alicent fuck alicent fuck alicent

  38. Alicent seduced her best friend's dad and created hostility with an allied family because said dad picked her over the kid with the connections. She really has 0 room to be judging anyone especially with a dad who takes advantage of a weak king to advance his own family. She is also creating conflict and creating a self-fulfilling prophecy when she could calm down and create an alliance with the best friend she fucked over instead of pitting her side piece against her.

  39. I need to see the prophecies fulfilled, There is no more satisfying ending to a story than being told exactly what is going to happen, and then for it to happen exactly as described in the prophecy. So exciting.

  40. She isn't a loyal friend. She should have told her friend that she was marrying her friends dad. She should have told her that Sir Christian confessed to her. She should have told her friend what her dad said about her when he was fired as hand. The coming was could have been avoided if she went to her friend the day her dad got fired as the hand and talk to her.

  41. Why should she mention the confession? It came after Rhae lied. After she swore on her Mother's life and Alicent trusts her and is a loyal friend who defends her to her Father and the King then lost her family the hand position and respect. Alicent does some terrible things out of fear but in the show it cannot be denied that she tried to give Rhae a chance and wanted to.

  42. I’m kinda caught in the middle honestly I don’t know who to side with. I feel bad for both sides but I mostly feel bad for Visarus the man has been trying his best to hold it together.

  43. Primogeniture was void the moment Daemon was displaced as heir. How modern people don't understand medieval succession law I'll never understand 😤

  44. Primogeniture is never displaced. It can be temporarily circumvented for a generation, like Viserys is trying to do, but that circumvention only has as much power as the lords of the realm are willing to give it. The entire clash of the story is based on the fact that half the lords don't want to honor his circumvention of primogeniture.

  45. I don't have an issue with her per say, it is who she listens to that I have an issue with. I wish she would see that everyone is using her even her so called allies.

  46. I mean the only reason she’s pushing Aegon is because Otto put it in her mind that Rhaenyra will kill them all to secure the throne.

  47. You haven’t read the book have you? Rhaenyra is far from a good person, and as Otto said she’ll have no choice but to kill Aegon even if she doesn’t want to.

  48. I back the blacks because Rhaenyra is the heir to the throne as decreed by both the king and all the lords of Westeros.

  49. In the book both Rhaenyra and Aegon turn out to be bad rulers, for different reasons. It's a fight of two potentially bad leaders and whoever wins the realm the small folk will bear the brunt. Rhaenyra outright says she doesn't care what the small folk think. It's a struggle for power and there are no "good" guys.

  50. She literally is. This entire society is based on virtue police. Sex out of wedlock isn't a Jerry Springer episode, it's a cause for war. I think a lot of viewers are watching this with Twitter glasses on.

  51. I really couldn’t stand how she undermines Viserys and makes the final call. Since when does the queen hold power over the king. If this was the real GOT she would have been backhanded

  52. ngl i dont like her because she’s selfish at the end of the day . she’s only seeing things from one point of view and is still letting her father influence her even tho he’s not even there ! she’s just as much as a snake as rhynera (i might have spelled that wrong ) she just doesn’t do it for me and THE SHOW IS LITERALLY SETTING HER UP AS A BAD GUY. idk she just makes sick , and if things go like the book (no spoilers) i’m right for not liking her

  53. He gazed through the fug of cheese dripping from his eyebrows at the blurred monitor before him. Ten years, ten years he had been gazing at those words. They swam through the murk and came into sharp focus. “Oh Ser Barristan!” Dany gasped, “Tweak my nipples! Tweak them harder!”

  54. Because she is going against the kings declared heir and is going to kick off a bloody war that consumes the whole realm because she wants her children to have power. The realm will bleed because of this woman so I'm not really sure why anyone would like her.
