Can Maddison be left behind?

  1. I think you've hit the nail on the head with the formation thing. He can't play in midfield, he's not defensively sound enough and don't think he has the physicality for it either. So he'd have to play as a wide forward, and he's not one of the best options there either.

  2. There's nothing you've written there that I would say is egregiously wrong, my disagreements are purely subjective.

  3. Can Maddison be left behind? Certainly, should he be left behind? Absolutely not, will he be left behind? Probably.

  4. You would think this is a man playing for one of the best teams in the league not somebody who is at a 2nd bottom side and only beat the to be relegated Notts forest

  5. The team he plays for is irrelevant, it's how good he is that matters and he has been excellent over the last 12 months.

  6. I’d take him. He’s on top form. I thought Southgate said he picks on form, this is obviously not true and just picks his favourites.

  7. I mean, two years ago people thought his "favourites" were Jesse Lingard and Michael Keane, and were crying that Grealish and Coady couldn't get a game. Now they think Grealish and Coady are his favourites. It's just a nonsensical talking point.

  8. I was going to make a post about my proposed starting XI for England, and was happy to see this from OP so I can piggyback in the comment section instead.

  9. Maddison should go, Gallagher should go and Bellingham should start. Playing 5 Defenders and 2 DMs is ridiculous to me. I'm not a fan of the Rice, Phillips partnership they offer nothing creatively or going forward.
